Hickory Penang Hill

That this facility provide breakfast , lunch and dinner option. It's location is secluded and enables its patrons to be able to enjoy the cool weather and beautiful scenery away from the hustle and bustle of Penang Hill.

1) Lack of workers. Noone there to check us out and to take our breakfast order. Most of the time we have to look for the workers. 2) Security. There is nothing to prevent people from walking into the premise at anytime of the day or night 3) The bungalow needs some tidy up. Beautiful place but looks a bit messy with many things lying around and cushion looks used and not laundered especially in the living room giving the impression that the place have not been clean.

The meals were amazing. The view is breathtaking. The staff were awesome and went out of their way to help me when I got stuck at the funicular with my luggage to get up the hill. Raj runs a good ship and he even went as far as to reach out to me after I made my booking to give me guidance on how to get to the site. The location is just…. Wow. That view is worth a million dollars. The sound of the jungle at night is also awesome.

To get up the hill is a mission. Not Hickory’s fault, but don’t be silly like me and try take a suitcase up the funicular (tram). The only other way up is to pay 160 myr to get a jeep up the road as only 4x4 vehicles can go up the hill. Also, the coffee selection isn’t great. Mostly instant with heaps of sugar and creamer mixed in pre packaged instant coffee. There was a plunger, but not enough ground coffee for my stay.

Great location & view near middle station - nice for early morning hikes

Everything is very old, the room was located next to the table serving guests food all day long & no noise barriers at all! 6.30-22.00 talking & no privacy as everyone can watch inside the room. Decide having a side view or privacy. The food was not good at all, with strange sausages, instant coffee - every US breakfast is better. The furniture is very old, the bathroom started to smell really bad & toilet flush didn’t worked well. No real blanket available just a very thin sheet & unhygienic blanket (not washed). Plus there was chaos with bookings & the staff asked me to checkout although I payed for two nights. I had to stop my digital detox and call the owner to solve the situation. I can‘t recommend this place!

Location nice, owner nice, staff nice, breakfast nice, everything is good there.

The shower head abit old, abit difficult to control water temperature when showering.
