Cambridge House

The location of the property was really good. There are shops around and places to eat. Parking was pretty straight forward. Free parking on Holly Road but there’s not a lot of spaces. It’s the luck of the draw but there is paid parking on broad street. It’s only a 5 minute walk from the property. I stayed in room 0 which is downstairs at the bottom. It’s quite a big space down there and really homely. There was a coffee machine, kettle and microwave along with cutlery, cups, glasses and plates. Was quite a nice surprise. The radiator in the first room with the tv needs to be turned on manually. You can set a temperature and turn it off when it’s heated up which tends to happen pretty quick. If you’re travelling with kids, there are board games on the side to play too like monopoly, checkers or many more. The tv allows you to sign into your own Netflix or other apps. Just remember to sign out. It’s really clean in the room for the most part. Both beds were really comfy and sheets were fresh. There were some toiletries in the shower although we never used them.

Noise. This was the main and only problem I had. The room wasn’t sound proof. We could hear people coming and going. You could constantly hear people running up/down the stairs in the evening. The worst was in the morning, when those staying in the room above got up at 6am. Their alarm woke up and we could literally hear them using their electric toothbrush then moving around before heading out. The property is great for one night and the prices are hard to beat if you have a dog too BUT I wouldn’t stay longer. Cups and glasses were a little dirty so make sure you rinse them before using.

Booked for four people (One double and one sofa bed) but the sofa bed hadn’t been made up. Check in at 1600 is really quite late especially when they ask for an early check out at 1000. 1500 is the norm. One concern about the fire escape. The room is a basement location with the only ‘fire escape’ being the only staircase out of the room. The windows are barred shut. Should there have been a fire on the ground floor we would have all died. I don’t think this is up to code and should be rectified immediately. Only 1 1/3 toilet roll for 4x 2x nights is a bit stingy. We had to go out and buy more.

The room had unusual yet very atmospheric colors that created a cozy, distinctive mood. Clean, comfortable and warm. I really enjoyed the location, getting around was super easy and smooth

Only mentioned this for your information! The front door access was a little bit temperamental (this may need looking at it kept timing out before you could enter the code split second and it went which set an alarm off after a couple of goes may need new battery ) the room access was fine
