I was very disappointed with my stay at 74 on Retief Guesthouse. The experience did not reflect the 4-star standard that was advertised. Our room had a locked connecting door to the neighboring room, and we could hear everything from the guests next door. They spoke and laughed until 4 am, which meant we had no sleep. Breakfast was not as described in the room menu. There was no fruit, no yogurt, and only chicory coffee (after asking). No tea or juice was offered. The food was cold, and seating was in the kitchen while staff played music from their phones. This felt very unprofessional. The photos and descriptions online do not match the reality of the property, and overall the standard fell far below what one would expect from a 4-star guesthouse. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this property as it did not meet the quality or comfort promised.

Guests coming in very late at night, chatting outside in hallway and keeping us awake.

Hot water was not available upon arrival, but that was sorted after a few hours.
