The fireplace in the patio area of my room. The heater, although a bit wobbly, helped for the cold.

The place needs a bit of maintenance. The shower ceiling was full of mildew. The shower head was blocked and leaking. It splashed water over the glass shelf below it. The shelf should be moved.

I appreciate the friendly reception and our host's willingness to help us with small things to make our stay warm and enjoyable.

Absolutely nothing.

I am from Pretoria and certainly did not anticipate any issues where traffic delays and roadworks were concerned. However, out of sheer courtesy, I phoned the establishment at about 19:30, stating that, on account of unforeseen circumstances (unforeseen traffic roadworks, including those in Bloemfontein N1), the expected travel time will be about 15- 30 minutes, I am requesting that they accommodate the slight change of time, but they flatly refused. I eventually arrived at 22:15, and I was not allowed to gain access. I then went about trying to find a Guesthouse or hotel that I could stay in for the night. A good Samaritan - RUSPLEK Guesthouse - who, by the way, also closed at 22:00, was able to accommodate me at 22:54. Now, I am told that I cannot even claim the refund from this vile Guesthouse as they had already indicated that, under no circumstances, will refunds be processed.

Well situated, plenty of parking, spacious layout of rooms.

The glass door was all cracked and the lock on the door fell out ... wondered whether there had been a break in?
