Really great spot for a few nights in Riomaggiore!

The aircon *barely* worked so my first night was a bit uncomfortable, luckily the temperature outside dropped for the rest of my stay.

We had a great time at Az L’Ancora. The location was perfect and close to everything we needed. The room was clean, well-equipped, and tastefully decorated. The host was kind and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

Among the better value-for-money options at the time of booking. Extremely welcoming, hospitable, and delightful owner, Edi, welcomed us in a manner rarely found anymore in budget-priced accommodations, which are often entered without any human contact whatsoever. The room was small yet delightful—simple, neither modern nor old, tastefully decorated, and best of all, it featured a painting of Riomaggiore. In many of my travels, I’ve often noticed superfluous artwork on the walls—usually not even pleasant—and frequently depicting cityscapes unrelated to the place being visited. Here, everything was impeccably clean. Although reaching the accommodation required a steep uphill walk along Riomaggiore’s main street, it was very centrally located and easy to find. The room had well functioning air-conditioning, absolutely clean windows and window shutters looking out into the street. The room also had a small cooler (fridge). Quiet room with very little outdoor noise, despite street side view. The accommodation is on the main road and just FAR ENOUGH AWAY from the noisier street-side cafes and restaurants. Although ear plugs were included in the room amenities, modern windows blocked out sounds of street-side pedestrian chatter that occurs in the morning, when tourists start marching downhill towards the sea. The earplugs were not necessary, even during the core of the evening with the window open. 10 min downhill walk to the train station 20 min uphill walk to the accommodation

No complaint! Just some observations and recommendations: The bathroom was very stylish and modern. Two steps were required to enter the shower, which was impeccably clean and functioned perfectly. However, the steps could be slippery, so caution is advised when climbing them and entering the shower. The bedside shelf—functioning as a bedside table—was made of lacquered wood. While visually appealing, the lacquer felt slightly sticky to the touch. Similarly, the wooden countertop supporting the sink bowl, as well as the bedside shelf, appeared susceptible to water and heat damage. My only recommendation would be to apply a heat- and water-resistant protective coating, or to cover the surfaces with a glass pane to preserve their appearance and durability. The beds were comfortable, but I'd venture to say that they were a tad bit shorter (probably 190cm) than today's standard of 200cm. The room (Room 2) was accessible by a narrow spiral staircase. Not an easy climb with heavy luggage, especially if you want to avoid marking/scratching the immaculately well maintained wall. Not a recommended climb for walking impaired people. Again, the above are only observations and recommendations. I actually have no complaints and would consider returning here.

The room was spotlessly clean and was actually nicer than the photos. Great value. Good location. Great communication through WhatsApp. Only thing I couldn't figure out was the AC at first but you just have to close both of the windows in order to turn it on. Highly recommend staying here.

Only issue is that there is a narrow staircase up so if you have any mobility issues it may not be the best fit for you.
