La Nave

Two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen (with refrigerator, stove, sink, washing machine, pots and pans, dishes, utensils, living room, roof terrace and very close to the train station, hiking, the sea, restaurants, a market and shops.

Wish they had twin beds in at least 1 bedroom.

La Nave is a charming apartment with some of the quirks and oddities you would expect from a very old, cottage-style traditional building. So, on the one hand you have somewhere with loads of character, a stones throw from the village centre, and on the other hand you sacrifice some of the conveniences and comforts of modern apartments. This will suit some and not suit others. The apartment is maybe 100 metres slightly uphill from the train station. You enter a lobby on the ground floor and then need to climb some very steep, narrow stairs to the living area on the first floor. This has a kind of open mezzanine that forms one of the bedrooms, one true double bedroom, a corridor kitchen, a small sitting/dining room and a small bathroom. Small is the word here, the photographer used a very wide angled lens! The lack of privacy for bedroom 1 wasn't an issue for us as we all went in and out together but it might not suit everyone. The kitchen was fairly well-equipped and the living room is fine for for 4. I could imagine a family of 2 + 3 being okay but 5 adults would be a bit of a squeeze. The bathroom is fine on the whole, except for the shower, which I'll cover below under the negatives. As the photos show, there is a roof-top terrace; however, the stairs to this are extremely steep - think loft ladder. In the event, because it was so difficult to access we didn't even use it to dry clothes, never mind the envisaged evening drinks or morning breakfast.

As has been said elsewhere, there is no shower, just the hose thing that you used to see on bathtubs 30 years ago; you have to hold that in one hand while washing with the other, all the while trying to avoid getting the floor wet. For the price, I don't think this is good enough.

The location was great. The stream out the back was delightful. The rooftop patio was very nice. The bathroom was newly renovated.

The kitchen was minimally stocked. We could not find a toaster. The shower was challenging since there was no door so once almost had to sit in the tub in order not to spray water all over the room. The table and umbrella on the rooftop were broken.

A lovely breeze flowed through the apartment, keeping it comfortable. The little table and chairs on the balcony were delightful

There was no shower! A hose over the bath was all that was provided. One bedroom was little more than a mezzanine over the downstairs entrance, and separated from the staircase by less than a metre. Really dangerous, and would not pass safety regulations in most countries. As well, the living area was very shabby and in need of a good clean, most particularly the sofa. The apartment was cramped and lacked basic items such as bedside tables. It was a disappointment, failing to meet expected standards of comfort. Forget the rooftop terrace - a steep set of stairs makes it as good as inaccessible. Would not recommend.

The apartment was close to both the train station and town/harbour. It was nice to have the little balcony and lots of windows. It was cute and quaint.

The stairs were steep to get suitcases up to the two bedrooms. It would have been good if the shower hose hooked up so you didn't have to hold it to try and wash your hair.

There was heaps of space for two adults and two teenagers. The location was great with very easy access.
