The Host Saiko was so wonderfully charming, and kind and accommodating. The lodging was authentic, traditional and relaxed. Very convenient location- couldn't be improved- right by an onsen and the ski travelator in the middle of Nozawa Onsen. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Wonderful staff, Diana also did everything to ensure a smooth journey with any issues we had easily sorted. Heater in the rooms very useful as rooms can get quite cold in the Winter.

Although the location is on a bit of an upward hill, it's right by the main road, the biggest onsen in town, and like a 5 minute walk to the walkalator that gets you to the gondolas/ snow bases so it's incredibly convenient. Both Saeko-san and Diana were both really friendly and helpful. There's plenty to eat for the Japanese-styled breakfasts; the vegetables and rice that you eat during breakfast are both from Saeko-san's fields, so you know they are well-sourced! It's also fun to stay at this minshuku because they provide a kotatsu per room which I really enjoyed using. The room felt spacious for me but I was only one person. Most of the other people there were travelling in groups. I'd recommend this to people who are looking for a more household Japanese living experience.

- Outside the room the halls & bathroom were freezing cold....had to put on a jacket and beanie to go to the bathroom - Bed was very hard....added extra bedding on top of the mattress to make it more comfortable and then it was ok

Great location, close to restaurants and hot spring. The inn was on a slope so might be tough if you are carrying lots of luggage. The owner Seiko san was really kind and it was a humble stay.

The shower did not work, and had to use the tap to get hot water. But this was expected from the reviews, and there are plenty of public bathhouses in the town.

Location we was accessible and close to all the cafe and activities . English speaking host and a lot of warmth from the host. The bed and room was clean and comfortable

The lady who owns this place is very sweet. The location was 2 minutes from the "moving walk" which took you to the higher base.

It was a bit cold and dark

We had such a nice Japanese style room and very comfortable futon mattresses and bedding. Slept so well. The owner is a wonderful lady and so very kind and helpful. The location is absolutely fantastic - right next to the most prominent onsen and right in the centre of town, yet quiet at night. Very close to the moving escalator. It's one of the older buildings in town but that's what I liked about it, it had lots of character. The whole family really enjoyed our short stay. THANK YOU!

I liked it all. Perhaps a shared kitchenette with simple tea making facilities would make this place even better.
