An atmospheric old Japanese house with a great view. The owner was very helpful but not intrusively so.

our host was very friendly and helpful and welcomed us in the house. we had the whole traditional Japanese house just for us. very spacious, air-conditioned and with fully equipped kitchen.

the location is remote, requires a car and dinner options are somewhat limited. we were recommended and got a reservation ata a decent pancake place with very kind host.

It’s an entire house and very big! Full of antiques and curios, and very near the station. The bakery next door opens at 8am for the best breakfast, don’t miss it. The supermarket opens at 10am till 6pm and there aren’t many restaurants around :-). Gold base to explore the Nasenko trail as you can do day trips, I wish we had done that instead of moving everyday, you can take the train to the stations where the tracks start.

No black out blinds were the only downside as the sun rises before 5am in summer.

It was so clean In a great location and most of all the owners were so lovely and extrely helpful. I would recommend this accommodation it is a hidden gem

A random search led us to Guesthouse Shigi and what a lucky find! 10 minutes drive from Magome-juku and plenty of beautiful natural sights to explore nearby. We enjoyed every bit of our stay here. Had a lovely chat with Assi the owner and he even hand picked the record for us to listen to that night. The house is impeccably maintained and every detail is cared for.

The house is beautiful and spacious in an idyllic location, only a 5-minute walk from the Sakashita train station. Assi, the host, was extremely accommodating and always made sure everything was fine with the house and that I had everything I needed for my stay.
