Good breakfast and lovely host

The location was good, and the breakfast most enjoyable. The host was very friendly and helpful. A very pleasant stay.

There were no 2 prong plugs/adapters in the house. Fortunately, I brought one adapter, but the rest of the family had to share it.

The house itself is cozy and nice. The rooms have been tidy and clean. Soap, towel and coffee,tea have been provided. The breakfast was made very nicely and according to our wishes.

The checkin was trouble as no one was there and another guest had to let us in. No messages went through (according to technical issues at the hosts). We've been told to be lucky that we got in by the host - not the best experience. When checking out we've been asked to pay cash only, which we didn't know. And the area where atms could be found not considered as safe at all. DON'T try it, we got in dangerous situations. Withdraw cash before in a bigger town. After some discussion with the host, we managed a direct transfer through a local friend of mine. Not doable for international travelers. So when booking, please keep that in mind. We would recommend the hosts to send a default message to inform travelers about the payment options.

Comfortable and clean rooms. Friendly owner, and the breakfast was good.

It was an extremely hot day in February, the rooms only had fans and the owner asked us not to open the window during the night, as the beautiful sash wooden windows were not fitted with burglar bars.

Set on a quiet leafy residential street, with a nice garden, the core of the property is quite old with lots of period furnishings. The bedrooms are modern and very comfortable, with good wifi and an excellent shower. The owner volunteered to cook an early breakfast for me, I was hoping maybe 7am but she was happy to do earlier (I was cycling and hoping to avoid the heat of the afternoon). I thought this was above and beyond, and much appreciated!

I had overlooked that it was cash only, but it does say so on the site. Villiersdorp itself seemed unremarkable, but was a handy stop over location.

There was nowhere to eat in Villiersdorp in the evening, so the owner kindly rustled up some food and tea for us so that we didn't go to bed hungry.. she didn't even want to be paid but we left money for her.
