Coibahouse Ocean Front Eco-Stay

Coibahouse ocean front was so lovely! Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. You can rent kayaks etc directly from them which makes everything very accessible. The location is also perfect with lovely sunset views every night. They also have laundry service and free water which was a nice treat.

An extra blanket would have been nice but otherwise everything was great.

What a fabulous place! Amazing location. Darcy was a terrific host - very friendly and helpful. Views of the sunset were extraordinary. Very comfortable. Am absolute winner. So pleased we chose it.

Location — 5/5 Directly on the beach with stunning views and incredible sunsets. Hard to beat. Pre-Arrival Communication — 5/5 Prompt, helpful, and friendly throughout. Staff — 4/5 Arrival was handled warmly. Staff were welcoming, spoke great English, showed us around, and gave useful local tips. Shared Spaces & Amenities — 4/5 Community kitchen and bathrooms are generally clean. Filtered water and a fridge are available and working. Cleanliness — 4/5 Generally good. Given the location surrounded by ocean and trees, expect the usual tropical wildlife in communal areas: cockroaches, lizards, spiders. That’s nature, not negligence. Bed — comfy and clean.

Owner — 1/5 After a 3-night stay, we checked out on time at 11am and had agreed with staff to return briefly around 3pm to shower and pack — using only the community spaces. The owner initially greeted us warmly: “You’re still our guests, feel at home.” Fifteen minutes later — while we were eating a fruit plate in the community kitchen — he returned and asked us to leave immediately. No other guests present. Nothing was being disturbed. Space was clean. A simple “how much longer do you need?” would have been enough. Instead we were effectively kicked out mid-snack after three respectful nights. I’ve travelled extensively and never experienced anything like it. True hospitality isn’t just about the welcome — it’s also about the goodbye. Room — 3/5 Stuffy and humid. A dehumidifier is provided but manage expectations. No bin, no daily housekeeping, and the A/C has a very bright display with no night mode — annoying for light sleepers. Amenities — felt hostel-grade for the price. Only one shower and one toilet serving multiple rooms — can get uncomfortable. Parking is very limited (3 cars max) with a steep, tight turning area — confident drivers only. Entrance walkway (long wooden pier) is visibly rusting and needs renovation soon. Price / Value — 3/5 We spent most of our time at Bambuda Santa Catalina nearby — fantastic pool, bar, and breakfast restaurant with equally stunning views. Had they had rooms available, we’d have stayed there instead.
