"Great Home Stay"

Shalom's guest house is a great place to stay while in Cherapunji. The location is great and the rooms were excellent. The host and the staff treated us very well and made all the arrangements possible to make our stay comfortable. We booked 3 deluxe rooms and all were great for the price. Will definitely consider visiting next time.

"Avoid at all costs"

This guest house has nothing to like. It is located in a remote location outside the city and is a shabbily set up place. The only facility worth mentioning is the running warm water in the bathroom.

I had booked 2 rooms as I was travelling with family. I got one room with 2 beds in it and another with a slightly bigger bed. None of the rooms were up to the mark according to the rent of 4500/night. The bedsheets were dirty, towels flimsy and the rooms damp. The owner was not there to attend us. We had to move our luggage to the basement on our own with minimal help from his nephew. The dinner served to us was absolutely pathetic. It was delayed by 2 hrs and had so much chilly in it that my parents and children were literally in tears eating it. To top it all, there was also limited drinking water supply. The owner is also a dicey fellow who charged us all the money beforehand and then disappeared. The next morning there was not a single soul to be seen in the guest house. So much so that we could not get even a drop of water to drink. We just left the place with a bitter experience and dry throats.
