La Locanda Del Lago Lucciola

The area was very pretty. It seemed secure enough. The lunch we had our 2nd day there was delicious. The owner seemed very nice.

It was more like a lodge than a hotel. The restaurant was small and right off the foyer. I was picturing something more elegant. The area in back where the rooms were was separated from the main part of the building by a door which was locked a couple of times and neither of the keys they gave us unlocked the door. It was very cold in that back portion. They didn’t speak ANY English at all - my husband speaks some Italian but didn’t always understand what they were saying so there was a little miscommunication. I thought breakfast was included with the room - it was, sort of, but all we were offered was cappuccini (which was very good), a small bottle of juice, and a pre-packaged small coffee cake type pastry that was so-so, though if you spread some Nutella on it it was okay. Maybe they expected us to specify what we wanted? But we made do. They were very nice.

Clean, good Wi-Fi, free parking. Good coffee.

It is a gas station (!) with all that brings in terms of fumes and noise. The hot water in the room did not work. The room did not have what would now be considered basic amenities such as water boiler and mini fridge. The location was not very good and I would next time stay in Scanno. Some of the staff were attentive but others did not seem to care at all that we were staying there.

There is exceptional pride of ownership in this establishment and it is reflected in all aspects from the food, accommodations and staff. Our rooms/ bathrooms were clean, spacious and thoughtfully laid out. The complimentary breakfast provided exceptional value with great pastry selections and excellent coffee. Furthermore, the restaurant had fantastic food and very fair prices. The staff was always friendly, polite and helpful in every way. Really appreciated their efforts to accommodate us as we did not speak Italian. We would not hesitate in staying there again and highly recommend.

What makes this place stand out is the kindness of the staff. No exceptions. We had dinner there one night and the food and service were excellent. And I loved the fact that I could walk easily to both Villalago and Scanno lake by way of a lovely quiet footpath.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon in the week of Ferragosto so I couldn't expect it to be quiet. There were lots of motorbikes roaring up to get petrol that day. However, after midnight things quietened down and we slept well.

A suprise location, behind a service station but very quiet. I was a bit cold so the host made sure our room was warm. We had a great meal at the restaurant. Went for a walk in the morning and saw deer.
