There was no breakfast the kitchen didn't even have a knife in it. You couldn't make anything to eat. The hot plate didn't work the windows wouldn't stay closed so the wind blew straight through to my room which I had to keep locked because the door jam was rotten. The only nice thing was I had a nice view from my room

Everything. The bathroom was locked I found a bucket in the janitor closet to pee in. In the morning when I told the horrible woman downstairs she starts yelling at ME. She can't get it unlocked so opens another room that has an en suite bathroom..then yells at me as to why I didn't just use that one? Can you imagine if someone was staying there? Not to mention the same key opens all the rooms so why bother. Then on afternoon I came back and my room reeked of cologne. I asked what man had been in my room..she just laughed at me. Oh and when I arrived she wouldn't let me in then finally someone else entered so I could at least get in. The foyer. Again she wouldn't talk to me. Screaming at me it was late. It was 9 o'clock. Finally she gets the owner on the phone he tells me I have to walk 3 blocks to a seafood restaurant to get the keys. A nice waiter in from the restaurant next door could see my frustration. It's dark I was told it's next door but no 3 blocks the waiter walked with me to get the key. What a fiasco. And I didn't appreciate strange men in my room in my absence. That's just sick.

Location. Clean. Close to the museum.

Check-in was awkward with having to fetch the keys at a restaurant. I advise future guests to call the host gifteen minutes before you want to check in so you can go straight to the restaurant.

The property and the location are good.

There was no wifi.

During our 3-week, 6-location-stays we experienced the full gamut of Southern Italy. As we are also in the STR (short term rental) business in the USA, we offer the following suggestions to Christian in order for Castello Aragonese Suites (CAS) to soon earn consistent 10* reviews. We found CAS to be a GREAT location in Taranto. Though the property does not offer parking there is an underground garage nearby for reasonable overnight rates. The spacious room offered superior cooling capability for a July stay. Having shared access to a kitchen w/microwave and washer were extremely useful amenities and a discriminator for choosing a week-long stay location. The apartment rooms were not soundproofed, but no expectation based on being an older facility (and previous reviews). We loved being greeted by the apartment Porteria every day….she is a gem. We never met the Owner/Operator, Christian, as our booking and arrival communications were conducted through booking.com, phone, WhatsApp, and email.

Ad accuracy (-2*): The ad Property Description states “each room is provided free WIFI.” Wifi was not provided. “Breakfast is offered every morning and includes sweet items.” No items were offered or provided. Daily housekeeping was not provided as listed in the ad; the housekeeper seemed to pick up trash every other day or so and offered fresh bath linens once during our stay. Cleanliness/Maintenance/Safe/Comfort (-1*): The kitchen area needs a deep clean between guests. The bath area in our room needed maintenance; the sink faucet leaks onto the basin and the shower head needs replacement as it sprays every direction vice downward. The shower enclosure no longer exists as shown in the ad photo, but a shower curtain is provided and the shower area needed new caulking. Since only the bedrooms have air conditioning, it would have been nice to have a comfortable sitting chair available in the bedroom. It would also be nice for the TV to be wall mounted so that we had full access to the small table provided in the room. Kitchen dishware/flatware did not match the number of occupants allowed (insufficient quantity). Communication (-1*): The business owner should push information to their guests, vice waiting for guest to request. Italy “hospitality licensing” requires guests to provide a photo copy of their government issued IDs. This requirement should be listed in the ad, and requested well in advance by followup email (as booking.com does not seem to provide a means to send attachments). There were no instructions in the apartment on how to operate appliances (coffee machine/washing machine), or no guidance for us to empty a/c condensation bottle daily (however the Porteria notified us verbally). We would have liked to have seen a welcome sheet addressing these items along with Christian’s favorite restaurants and things to do in the area.

the view was nice, and the room was large. which is reasonable due to the fact we were 2 people in room for 5.

The bathroom is private but it is outside the room. which quite uncomfortable.
