Excellence of their hospitality and kindness. Natural environment nearby also great.

Facilities were a bit dated and some functioned well.

Guests are very kind, they speak fluently English, they offer a very low cost kayak experience with guidance to see the river, the mangrove trees some caves and also the sea. They also drove me to the airport and offered pineapples for free. The free bicycle offered by the guest house is very useful.

My stay in suntoru has been amazing! Seiken-san and Tamara-san have been wonderful hosts, I originally only booked 3 nights, but I ended up going back for another 6 nights. If they have time they will go above and beyond to make your stay in ishigaki as good as it can be. They are located next to the Miyara river and offer kayaks to the guests free of charge. There are no big supermarkets nearby but if you ask them when they go shopping they will bring you along. I will be back :)

Wonderful hospitality to a basic but great place to stay. Good value if you don’t mind sharing - close to mangroves and the rest of the island.

Doors need some maintenance

I had a wonderful stay at Guesthouse Suntoru! The property is conveniently located right next to a bus stop that provides easy access to both the city and the airport (I recommend getting the 5-day, 2,000 JPY bus pass if you're not renting a car). The pension gives direct access to the mangrove for some relaxing kayaking, as well as the bay and waterfront for a nice sunset walk. It is close enough to the main city for scuba dive shops to pick you up directly (check with them first). Also, the owner and the manager are incredibly friendly and will always happily share local tips and insights. All in all, wonderful value and I would stay at Suntoru again.
