"A great experience after all"

10.0

The house owner / receptionist speaks English well. Very heart-warming attitude and open-minded.

My room is on the 3rd floor, it was pretty hot during noon - afternoon time due to the sun shine directly into the room.

"Veritable Nightmare"

1.0

Nothing

This place is situated in a dangerous area on a dangerous road full of stray dogs and rubbish. It's adjacent various karaoke bars that make noise into the early hours of the morning, so don't expect to sleep well. The drains in their toilets smell like they have open vents so the rooms smells awful. The pillows are yellow with stains. It's miles away from central phnom pehn so not useful if that's where you want to be. They rent long term to undesirables. If I was you I would book accommodation closer to the city for the same money as the area this hotel is in isn't safe at all.

★☆☆☆☆ Warning: This isn't a guest house, it's a prison with a reception desk. Title: Treated Like a Child, Not a Paying Guest I have stayed in many guesthouses across the country, but my one-night stay at 139 Guest House was, without a doubt, the most bizarre and unwelcoming experience of my life. The owners operate this place not as a hospitality business, but as a strict boarding school where guests are treated like naughty children. My first red flag was upon check-in yesterday. I was greeted by the owner's wife. Being tired from a long day of walking on a tour, I politely informed her I would be going out for a well-deserved massage later. Instead of a simple "Okay, see you later," I was given a curfew like a teenager. She sternly informed me that the gate would be locked at 11:00 PM sharp, with zero flexibility. My plans were instantly ruined. What kind of establishment locks their guests out at such an early hour? But the real highlight of the sheer contempt for guests came this morning at check-out. I was exhausted and desperately hungry. I approached the owner (the man) and asked him, in a very polite manner, "I am so hungry, I will eat here and then go, is that okay?" To emphasize, I even told him I had already ordered the food for delivery. His response was not just a "no." It was a cold, dismissive, "Eat outside, not here inside." He literally refused to allow a hungry, paying customer to sit and eat a meal on the premises minutes after checking out. There was no concern, no empathy, not even a flimsy excuse. Just a blunt refusal. So, after paying them for a night's stay, I was kicked to the curb—quite literally—to find a place to eat. I had to drag my luggage to the airport on an empty stomach. The absolute lack of basic human decency from both the husband and wife is staggering. They have no business being in the hospitality industry. Save your money and your dignity.
