The Nest

The whole family was so welcoming, hospitable and friendly. To relax and sit and chat was a special part of our stay. The atmospheric dining area with its books, pictures and colourful walls was charming. It overlooked a lovingly tended, pretty garden whilst breakfast and dinner, cooked by Mallika, were perfect. Thank you so much Lalith, Mohin, Mallika and Pradeep.

The location was great, filled with plants and flowers. The host was very nice, he got us a car very early when we left because the area is remote so no ride apps working. Not luxurious but great worth for the money.

We couldn't find anywhere to stay in the town we ended up in at sunset, so found the nest on booking.com. The owner was so friendly and very accommodating, staying up for a late check in and ensuring we had dinner on arrival. Our room was comfortable and close to town. We also heard elephants nearby. Plenty of space for parking our tuk tuk onsite as well.

Absolutely the best part of staying at the Nest are people who manage this lovely guesthouse. They welcome you with a smile, cup of tea and great conversations. They even offered to join me on my trip to the indigenous people of the forest in Dambana. More places with atmosphere like that <3

Everything! The Hosts are the nicest brothers! They help you with everything and make you feel like home. Also the food, the room, everything was perfect!

Great people, great food and calm location! Mohil can tell you a great amount on Sri Lanka's history - very interesting. A pity we stayed only one night.

Friendly owners and food was nice. Interesting garden

We made a special trip to this location to see the Vedda tribe in the jungle. This was a huge disappointment, the owner arranged a Tuk Tuk driver to take us there and also to an ancient temple for a fixed price. A random man jumped in the front of the Tuk Tuk and we were told to follow him by the driver. I had previously been assured by the owner of Nest that we would only pay 500 slr each for the museum, which was very reasonable, and that it’s free to wander the village. However the man told us to meet anyone we had to pay 10,000 slr and when we said we didn’t want to pay we just wanted to visit the village we were told the chief wasn’t there and was ushered out. The man continued uninvited in our Tuk Tuk to the temple, we knew he would be asking for money so we refused to visit, he held his hand out and we tipped him to get rid of him. I felt it was a total scam. We were then miles from anywhere the owner said in advance he would chat how to get back from his place to Negombo, it turns out it is a 10 hour public transport trek. We had to arrange a private driver for the 5 HOUR drive!!

Two very friendly older gentlemen run this accommodation. We were warmly welcomed. The lady of the house cooked delicious food and the breakfast was also good. A perfect stay for when you are late by Tuktuk to travel through the mountains to Kandy.

The owners of this place are absolutely brilliant! They are so friendly and so knowledgeable! They used to be tourist guides and really know everything about the area and also about the Vedda community. I really enjoyed our conversations. Also the food was delicious!

This was the perfect stop over on our way to Arugam Bay from Sigiriya. The hospitality was top notch! We got breakfast and some advice on a few things we wanted to do. The rooms are very clean, hot showers!, and comfy bed.
