Forest Dew Udawalawa

Good breakfast. Excellent location. Friendly hosts. Lovely room. Swimming pool was just being finished off when we were there but looked great. No real restaurant available but restaurants nearby. You'll pay through the nose for poor fare nearby but go on to Udawalawe to find good local food at local prices. The guest house will organise safari for you.

Mooie, ruime kamers met uitzicht op het reservaat. De kans bestaat dat je wildlife ziet vanuit je kamer. Het is schoon, bed was goed, airco werkt perfect. Ontbijt was ook fantastisch. Heel veel zorg om iets bijzonders op tafel te zetten. Er is een zwembad in aanbouw, dat is een waardevolle aanvulling.

Badkamer is schoon maar oogt wat primitief ten opzichte van de kamer. Maar voldoet prima.

The breakfast was delicious - fruit plate, omelet, sausages and Sri Lanka pancake and coffee. Everything was delicious

The staff were very kind, welcoming and helpful. They assisted us to plan the safari, made us delicious Sri Lankan breakfast and got us a takeaway. The glass wall is amazing in the bedroom as you can see right into the elephant park. Sadly we didn’t see any but caught lots of other wildlife.

We stayed two nights, and although very comfortable and lovely hosts it was one night too many as there is not anything to do in the area apart from the safari and elephant transition home.

Excellent accommodations and staff. A great large room with good AC and great WiFi. VERY quiet. They arranged a private safari for only $40 for a 4 hour 2pm-6pm event which was amazing. And so much cheaper.

Excellent staff, excellent breakfast. the manager organized our safari for us. We did everything via email and instant messaging. I must admit I was a little worried trying to organize all this from the US. But I needn't have. The safari guide was good, but a little over zealous trying to get to the best spots. We did see a lot of elephants, and crocodiles though. The elephant rehabilitation center is walking distance from this place. We stayed 1 night - arrived in the afternoon, went to the elephant rehab to see the feeding, up at 5 am the next morning for safari (guide right on time). Take a light jacket if you are doing the am safari - the drive in can be "cool". We had an amazing dinner and breakfast. But if you want to eat out there is a place between the lodge and the elephant rehab center which seems nice - next time! Overall it was very chill, exactly what we needed/wanted and well organized and will plan to stay there again if when we next visit Udawalawe. Did I mention the property has an amazing orchard. Walk around - its full of fruit trees and herbal plants! And a lot of the produce is what is served at meal times!
