Hasthi Safari Cottage

We had a wonderful stay! The room was beautiful and truly charming, surrounded by nature – the perfect place to relax. A special mention goes to the food: absolutely excellent, one of the best we’ve ever tried! We did also a wonderful safari experience in Uduwalawa! Highly recommended for anyone:)

Un accueil très chaleureux. Un lieu dépaysant. Coup de cœur pour les salles de bain extérieures. De très bons plats et petits déjeuners dans une jolie paillotte.

Das Cottage ist mega schön und vor allem das Dinner war super lecker. Wenn ihr hier übernachtet, nehmt auf jeden Fall das Reis & Curry mit, es lohnt sich. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich. Eine Übernachtung in dieser Unterkunft können wir absolut empfehlen!

Very unique and beautiful accommodations, although it is very close to the town centre it somehow felt very secluded. We loved that the outside shower was more than just a shower being outside, it was aesthetically inspired. The room was spacious and there was an outside porch. Dasun and his family cooked three traditional meals for us and Dasun arranged an excellent safari for us. He even found us a driver to take us to our next destination; he was an excellent and accomplished host who accommodated our every need before we had even thought of it! The meals provided were some of the best food we have had - absolutely superb.

La struttura ha piccoli cottage immersi nella natura, con un bagno privato tutto naturale e in parte all’aperto. La famiglia è molto accogliente e il cibo buonissimo! Ci hanno organizzato anche il safari al Parco di Uduwalawe, ad un prezzo contenuto, comprensivo di ingresso e gip con driver. Un’ esperienza fantastica, che consigliamo vivamente!

Non abbiamo usato gli asciugamani in dotazione e le lenzuola potevano essere più pulite per gli standard europei. Tuttavia, la camera era molto pulita.

Verrassend dat badkamer deels buiten was, maar eigenlijk een superleuke ervaring!

We only stayed for two nights, but we could have easily stayed longer. The room was clean, and our favorite feature was the outdoor bathroom, which we absolutely loved — it had a toilet, a regular shower, a natural waterfall-style shower, and even a small private plunge pool or bathtub — really fantastic. The location is great — right in the center of town, but it feels like you’re in the jungle. It’s beautifully arranged, and it’s definitely worth spending time relaxing on the terrace. The owner is extremely friendly and also offers dinners and a safari trip to Udawalawe National Park.

If one stayed a little longer, it would be nice to jave a little fridge in the room.

The property is in the village, but it’s so well hidden you basically feel like you are staying in the rainforest. After months of backpacking I was looking for a place to just chill and stay in bed all day if I want to, and it was perfect for that. However, there are also activities you can take part in offered by the owner, of which I chose the safari and it was great. The decoration is amazing, the garden lights up at night and with candles and fairy lights, and the natural bathroom looks like from my dreams. The breakfast is big, and the staff is hospitable. I think most people spend here just 1 day to do the safari, but I spent 5 and relaxed deeply.

We highly enjoyed our stay at Hasthi Safari Cottage. The rooms were amazing little bungalows with great outdoor showers. It was very clean and comfortable and had air conditioning. The dining area was a cute little hut that felt like you were right in the middle of a safari. We were able to get washing done and a delicious Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast organised through the accomodation. Dasun was a very friendly and accomodating host. We also organised a safari through Hasthi’s and I would highly recommend them for one. Their driver was very experienced and attended to a tense moment in the safari extremely well and confidently. He also had a very good eye for wildlife and took us away from any crowds. We were very pleased to have him as our driver.
