Kasbah Maktob Tamnougalt

Magnifique Kasbah bien entretenue dans un Ksar labyrinthique et magnifique, au sein d'une palmeraie calme et tout autant magnifique. Le cadre est pittoresque, on reçoit des consignes pour se garer puis rejoindre le lien à pied dans le Ksar. Mustafa nous a très bien accueilli et les repas (dîner et petits déjeuners) étaient excellents et copieux.

Kasbah Maktob is a very special place - I would recommend it to anyone. I stayed for three nights. The building itself is beautiful. It is a historical building which has been very nicely done up by the owner, Mustafa. It is situated within the ruins of a centuries-old town, which felt very exciting. You are free to explore the surrounding town and palm groves, which the Kasbah overlooks. I spent a whole day wandering through the palm groves, and walking down to the Draa riverbed (which is presently dry). The following day, Mustafa kindly organised for me to have a private, guided tour of the nearby Kasbah by a man named Abdul. Abdul was incredibly kind and informative, and we were able to converse in English. I would recommend this tour if you are staying here. The interior of the Kasbah was incredibly beautiful. It was decorated in traditional style, but had all necessary modern amenities, such as air conditioning. I stayed on the family room. This was a lovely, big room, which a large, private terrace. The terrace overlooked the palm grove, and was very comfortable. There are also two other large terraces, which are open to all guests, including a roof terrace. The food (predominantly tagines) was lovely. It was freshly cooked, sizeable, and very tasty. Breakfast, which was included in the cost of the booking, was large and very tasty. Mustafa, the owner, is absolutely lovely. He has a very warm and kind personality, and he was very helpful. For example, he kindly allowed me to use his personal phone to try to call someone I was due to be meeting later in my trip, and he then continued to try to reach them throughout the day. He also spoke good English. The Kasbah was easy to get to from the nearby town of Agdz / Agdez. I simply paid for a collective taxi from the main taxi rank in Agdz, and the drive was about 15 minutes. It is then a two minute walk through the old town to reach the Kasbah. I recommend a stay at the Kasbah to anyone.

Such a great experience sleeping in a Kasbah. Decor, location and food were simply one of the best experience I ever had! The cherry on the cake was the two guys hosting us, kind and smiling. Thank you for the hospitality. Highly recommended

L'emplacement dans la palmeraie. L'habitation est simple et traditionnelle. Grande salle de bain attenante à la chambre. Bon repas le soir dans une bonne ambiance.

L'accès de la maison est un peu compliquée dans la kasbah. Impossible d'y accéder en voiture mais on a eu de l'aide pour porter les bagages. Le lit était très dur !

The most pleasant surprise of our 14 days in Morocco. I must highlight the friendly atmosphere and excellent service from the very first moment. The whole village breathes history, and there is plenty to see — whether it's the surrounding kasbahs or the date palm oasis, which is definitely worth exploring. Great dinner, breakfast, and traditional tea. In the end, we were sad we could spend only one night here and not longer.

Une Kasba au milieu d’un ksar. L’ambiance et la décoration chaleureuse. Les terrasses donnant sur la palmerai et permettant de prendre le petit déjeuner et le dîner en plein air. Un propriétaire à l’écoute, très agréable et toujours souriant qui a pris le temps de discuter et d’échanger. Lieu et personne pleine d’authenticité. Nous recommandons vivement.
