Villa Riverside

Staff went above and beyond to provide a really good breakfast. . Staff also provided excellent local information and tips to enhance our holiday. Transportation was also readily available.

The location of this small hotel is stunning; there is an infinity pool overlooking the river. I did jet skiing on the river (Jasmine Villa next door, does this and many other waterspouts for half the price of the places in town). The owners also agreed that a boat could collect us from the garden for a river safari. The beaches and town are walking distance or a cheap tuk tuk ride away (the property house an in-house tuk tuk, which is very convenient). The room was spacious and very luxurious especially for the price. We had the balcony room with the view over the river, which was worth the extra money. There was a large hot shower and a fridge (the property also sells beers for a reasonable price and provides bottle openers if you want to buy your own). The Sri Lankan owners were really lovely. 2 really good recommendations for restaurants are the Maharajah (on the beach) and the Happy Garden (by the train station)

Breakfast was great, although the western style one was not as generous as the Sri Lankan one. That is my only very small criticism, but I am sure if you asked for more eggs etc they would happily provide them

Great apartments right on the river. Comfortable and spotlessly clean. Amazing western or Sri Lankan breakfast. Superb hosts very friendly and welcoming. Easy walking distance to beach and resteraunts. The accomodation has its own tuk tuk to take you and bring you back free of charge if you don't want to walk. Highly recommended.
