Dear Booking.com Customer Support, I would like to submit a formal complaint regarding a payment issue with a hotel booked through your platform. According to my booking, I reserved a standard room and checked in at 10:00 PM. I checked out the following morning at 8:50 AM. During my stay, I only used the room for that period and additionally received morning tea and breakfast for two persons. The hotel initially charged LKR 5,950 for the room and the above services, which I accepted. However, the hotel manager later charged an additional LKR 1,000 for an extra 50 minutes, claiming that my stay exceeded the standard checkout time. Based on the hotel’s stated room charging period (4:00 PM to 8:00 AM), the full room rate covers 16 hours. This means the approximate cost per hour would be around LKR 312.50. Since my total stay was approximately 10 hours and 50 minutes, I believe charging the full room rate plus an additional fee is not reasonable or ethical. Additionally, I did not utilize the room between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM, which was part of the chargeable period. Therefore, I respectfully request Booking.com to review this matter and investigate whether the hotel’s charging practice is fair and consistent with the terms presented during booking. I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The staff was friendly

You have to pay extra per hour if you arrive before 6 pm or check out after 7.30 am and nobody tells you, you have to ask. The bedsheet had stains and holes and the bed was uncomfortable. The fan was extremely loud. No mosquito net. Overall I would not complain if it was not totally overpriced for this low quality.
