Akki's Hostel

Mr Akil and his mother are super host to start with. Friendly, helpful and attentive to every guest’s needs. Rooms are super clean and maintained regularly. Very much of home vibe. Free breakfast every single day without miss. Beach at doorstep. Calm and cool breeze throughout the day. Had a very good sleep and recovery throughout my stay. Most enjoyable part was the ambient are quiet, less crowded, peaceful and the guest are super cool too. p/s walk out from the railway station towards the main road junction. catch Line 900 bus (Trincomalee - Pulmodai) and get down @ Alessgarden. bus fare Rs 80-100.

Feel sad to learn about some of unethical gestures displayed by the guests prior to my stay. They came in, manipulated the extended hospitality provided by the host, enjoyed the free meals, yet left with very poor rating for the host. It is so disrespectful and childish manner. This is a low income family run business and they just trying to make a decent earning. It’s unfair to expect five star treatment if you only pay for a fraction of a meal. If you have no intention to support them, at least dont try to damage them. Our gesture is the reflection of our character. Be an ethical guest.

The accommodation was very comfortable and cozy. Akil and his family were incredibly helpful with everything. They even let us use their bikes. I stayed for two days and extended my stay for another two days.

The hostel is located right in front of the beach. So you can go for a swim anytime of the day. Akki seems to be a nice guy. Hostel is decorated with house gardening, so you feel like being close to the nature.

Despite green environment, the dormitory room is extremely hot and the ceiling fan is not able to cool down the room. My dorm bed is equipped with net but has big holes, I got itchy bites. Also, my booking included free genius breakfast, which they did not provide on the second day of my stay. There was nobody in the house during breakfast hours. I just left the house. Only partially recommended.
