Quinta da Lapa

Isabelle the host was incredible, so helpful and looked after us really well. Setting in the vineyard is lovely. We arranged to have dinner at the house one evening which was an amazing experience - food was excellent, plenty of the wine from the vineyard and beautiful surroundings.

Bed wasn't that comfy, felt like the mattress was at the end of its life.

The Quinta is located in the middle of vineyards. It is exceptionally quiet. Very good breakfast with a lot of home made products. We definitely will return.

The staff are amazing. Food is spectacular and innovative as well as tailored for dietary requirements - even on short notice. The wine tasting and tour of the winery are top notch!

Nothing

I'll start with the star or Quinta Da Lapa, Isabelle. An amazing host who did what she could to make our visit amazing. The old house is also very nice and the breakfast (prepared by Isabelle) is 5 star. The outside quad is also nice to sit in the evenings.

So, besides for Isabelle, I felt that we (as paying guests) were an inconvenience to everyone else on the farm. I had people walk past me without saying hi - and this at check in. Being a wine farm (and taking everything the farm offers on its website), I imagined us doing wine tastings, taking a bike ride to the water hole for a swim and having a nice time on the farm. That was not the case. Nobody had time for us, we were denied a wine tasting for the 3 days we were there and if it were not for Isabelle, I doubt we would have had wine at all. Meal options are few and far between as the farm is really rural and you need to drive a while to find anything. None of the activities that the farm advertised are a reality and we had to pretty much fend for ourselves and drive away and find things to do. Quite honestly, I feel that the way this place sells itself is false advertising and they should be clear upfront that they offer a room in the middle of nowhere with breakfast - that's it.

Gorgeous space surrounded by vineyards. The light and the silence make the perfect invitation to presence. The rooms were spacious and beautiful.

The old wooden beds creaked. Part of the charm, maybe, but it does wake you up.
