Sevinex Inn

Welcoming and cozy hotel. The hosts, Ali and Abu really helped us to organize our trip and make the best from our stay.

The bed could be a bit more comfortable.

Abu and Ali are very attentive, structured, serious people and run a tight ship. As a result, the place is very clean and quiet and well-cared for. They communicated the rules and their expectations at the beginning. Ali gave a tour of the island when I arrived and loaned me snorkeling fins for free. The included breakfast was really good, and my room was very, very comfortable. The wifi worked quite well. Ali also proactively gave me all of the information I needed for the public ferry, helped me get my things to the dock when leaving, and followed up later to make sure I had arrived safely at my destination.

I had asked in advance if I could pay with credit card and they warned me that I could pay with credit card but I would also pay the 3.5% in credit card fees. For that reason, I went to the ATM in Male and got enough cash in rufiyaa to pay my US$260 bill. But when I gave them the rufiyaa, there was a big issue. They said if I paid in rufiyaa they could only give me an 18:1USD exchange rate rather than the 15:1 bank rate (something about the black market). That meant my stay would cost 10% more than what I had booked for. When I questioned whether we could find a solution together to this problem, they suggested I just pay in USD. I pointed out that then I would have all this rufiyaa I could not use before I went home. At that point they reminded me that I could leave but my booking was nonrefundable. That inflexible and stern reaction was a bit of a shock and left me feeling very uncomfortable/threatened. In hundreds of stays in dozens of countries, I have never before been charged extra for paying cash in local currency. If there is some problem with them accepting their own currency for payment at a rate reasonably close to the established exchange rate, that really needs to be clearly communicated in advance.

This is a small modern-styled hotel with a handful of rooms, with some expansion work going on. Room was cozy and proper, on the smallish side, but very contemporary in its appointments. Large bed, modest-sized bathroom, fridge, with limited outdoor views; lighting, AC and wifi are all excellent. Owners/workers are very attentive and always available for help. A decent breakfast is included. Nice community atmosphere given small size of place.

On the pricey side, as is everything on the island.

Directly opposite dive shop, next to shop and no more than 5-10 min walk from dock, eateries and beaches. Staff are very helpful and will help you get things sorted.

Breakfast was the same every day and very bread based. Wifi dipped in and out. TV in bedroom has no function at all. Would be good to have had a smart tv to wind down at the end of the day. Would be good to have a system to give guests water that didn’t involve a plastic bottle. So refills ?island itself has many sandflies so remember to pack your repellent and after bite cream!

We had a fantastic stay at sevinex inn. From start to finish the staff were fantastic. We did 3 trips with the hotel at a very reasonable price for the location. Breakfast was good on all occasions. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a chilled and quiet holiday. Thank you to all the staff at sevinex.

This place is a brilliant stay for those who want privacy and calm atmosphere. There are really small amount of other tourists, at my stay I never seen more than 4 others at once. The beach is outstanding. Very quiet.

The place is very nice and near the harbour and beaches. Staff is helpful and always try to accommodate requests and solve problems. Recommended. Great value for money.

Maybe start the breakfast earlier. To be fair, it's true that if someone has a trip they will provide it earlier, but you must remind them in advance. That aside, all good.
