Casa dos Rui´s

Rui was a fantastic host. His family, including Jack, the fabulous friendly waggy dog were all very friendly. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the location and the view. Everything was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. A huge thank you to Rui for his fantastic suggestions for our day trip. It was a perfect recommendation to one of the best hiking trails I’ve ever been on and Rui’s practical suggestions made it all doable.

You have everything to cook. Dolce Gusto machine. The staff, Rui, is really friendly and gave us a lot of tips to visit the island.

The place is exciting, really comfortable, and cozy. Thirstly, the house is clean, the room is big, and the kitchen is equipped very well. The host is an intelligent and kind person, speaks English well, and he provided us with good advice about the island and sights. Also, he helped us to rent a car. Absolutely recommended!

Rui's home is located at the end of the village in the most peaceful area with a stunning view. Yet it's close to everything. We had an amazing time here. Rui is the most amazing host I've ever meet. He is helpful, thoughtful and always available to help with anything that can come up. Rui helped us to plan our stay on the island, gave us ideas what to visit and welcomed us like we were family. Rui's place is not just another nice accomodation on the island, it's a home away from home. And I would recommend anyone who wants to have a real Sao Jorge experience to stay with Rui. We will definitely return.

We had such a great time at Sao Jorge. Before we came to this cute island, we didn’t know exactly, what we can do. Rui’s nephew and niece welcomed us and helped us to get a first impression. Rui helped us later with many useful tips, what to do here. We could ask anytime, if we had any questions. The room was very comfortable and the house is very clean.

We had a very nice time at the home of Ruis, and we only wish we could stay longer. The house is very clean, the room we booked comes with a nice private bathroom, and we could also use the kitchen. The hosts waited for us at the port, as our boat was late, explained the most beautiful points on the island, and helped with our car rental, and found a taxi for the faja hike we did one day. In the evening we had very nice conversations with Rui the uncle, while listening to the most fantastic cries of the cagarro birds flying above our heads and the nearby rock - it is one of the most memorable things from this island. The house is 15-ish minutes walk to the center of Velas, as well a big supermarket. The whole town is very safe and pleasant. The island is very beautiful, with some dramatic scenery, and our most honest advice would be to stay longer on Sao Jorge, if possible. The faja hike is one of the most pleasant and enjoyable hikes we have done.

The place exceeded our expectations simply because of its host Rui! Maybe the room is a bit too small but Rui is a gem! He suggested some very best sport to visit on Sao Jorge, helped to solve return time issue with car rental company, suggested few really nice restaurants and even booked few taxi rides for us. We simply forgot about all the small inconveniences in the house, becase Rui made us spend a great time in Sao Jorge and if you read this, Rui, thank you very much!

Place could be bigger, an extra wardrobe in the room would help, but these are small nuances and certainly won't ruin your stay, especially if you got used to stays in shared apartments.
