Pensiunea Eliza

Honestly, NOTHING about the property itself - maybe just the beautiful nature around it, but that has nothing to do with the place.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying at Pensiunea Eliza. There’s no reception and no clear instructions for check-in (you have to call the owner). The room was in the basement. The location is quite far from the center and the walk is steep and tiring. The Wi-Fi didn’t work and when I calmly asked the owner about it (we have to work), he reacted very rudely and told us to go find another hotel. Later, he even accused me of not wanting to pay, although I was simply trying to confirm if the Booking.com payment had gone through (it hadn’t). I asked him multiple times to stop speaking to me in that way and just charge me if needed but he kept going. The whole interaction was uncomfortable and unprofessional. It made us feel very unwelcome. I’ve travelled to so many places and never experienced something like that. The owner was absolutely aggressive and disrespectful. If you read other reviews, you’ll see I’m not the only one who had this kind of experience. I highly recommend spending a little more money to stay somewhere decent - it’s worth it. Not recommended! no Wi-Fi, rude communication and an inconvenient location with only one expensive restaurant nearby.

Beautiful and quiet location.

It was spacious, lovely design, quiet.

Not much... It was cold in some areas (like downstairs bathroom)

Quiet place, sleeps well. a large refrigerator / freezer was in my room, but no shared cooking facilities came to my attention. Prepared food is offered, but only at the adjacent restaurant (under different ownership) which looked quite popular at dinner time. Open till 10pm each evening. Not sure if breakfast is offered. Draught Stella beer is available, at least through September. A semi-domesticated fox (named Vasilica, I believe) visits every evening and it seems restaurant staff and guests feed her. She's quite cute, and I did not feel at all threatened.

If you're there for skiing or hiking, I suppose the location is great because it's a good 2km uphill from the main boulevard. If you're there for business and need to get to the center, you may need to count on taxi service, especially going uphill. Closet space is small, and I saw no other hooks other than in the large bathroom. Not sure where skiers would hang their wet clothing.

Friendly cat that somehow broke into our room sometimes. Restaurant upstairs - not great food. Good for coffee/beer/ emergencies. Soap and shampoo in shower.

Where do I start… Wifi never worked even though there was multiple networks that you had to try and flick between. Location was not as described. At least 30min walk downhill (along main road or sketchy wooden paths) to town/any restaurants or attractions. 45min walk uphill (basically a mountain). Not desirable at night or with luggage/children or at all. Felt unsafe walking back. Basement room with dangerous steep spiral steps and the only window in the bedroom (that you needed open for airflow) everyone walking past could see into your bed - made awkward eye contact on numerous occasions. No air conditioning or fan. Got very hot at night. No basically amenities e.g cups - however had fridge (not plugged in/difficult too) and kettle. Got kicked out early by cleaning lady who was impatiently waiting (before check out time). Owner knocked announced to take payment - did allow for Eftpos payments. The duvet was smaller than the bed so one person slept with a spare quilt.

Great location, quiet area, next to great restaurant, would definitely recommend.
