Fort Sapphire

Fantastic location in heart of Galle fort. Would suit anyone seeking a 'homestay' style experience as there is a lot of interaction with host, who was even kind enough to offer an early morning lift to the railway station, as she was concerned I would not find a tuk tuk at that time. It is a house comprising 2 upstairs letting rooms, one downstairs letting room, and a kitchen area with couch. I was invited to make as much coffee/tea as I wanted in this area. Because I was the only guest, the host What's Apped me to check when I would be back. She made sure she was there, and even slept on the kitchen couch both nights to ensure my safety! Bedroom is basic, but has good aircon and a fan. Hot shower water available if needed/asked for. Balcony in my room was not to outside, but interior and looked down onto the kitchen area, so not suitable for sitting out. Think one in other room may have overlooked street and be better? Central position, so easy to walk around fort area and lots of restaurants close by.

Was wary of steep staircase which lacked a handrail in parts. Balcony important to me, so wished I'd stayed in other room.

A very lovely stay with a very kind and hospitable host! Located in the center of the Galle streets, it’s a beautiful place to stay in and room is also pretty. Would highly recommend

Dileepa is very friendly. Very reasonably priced compared to nearby properties, I hope it stays that way. Clean and tidy in a quiet area, not much more you can ask for.

Property was very good value for the location, which is within a short walk of everything in the Fort. A little dark and ‘tired’ but to be expected of a low cost old property of this type. Staff were helpful and very friendly. Only negative - AirCon was not quite strong enough for a comfortable nights sleep.

Fantastic location right in the centre of the old town.
