Everything! Lovely ambiance, well equipped kitchen, close by downtown and shopping

Nothing we were very comfortable.

Room was very tastefully decorated. bed was very comfy and all amenities catered for.

The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was a decent size for a small room.

My husband was recovering in Whangarei Hospital from major cancer surgery. I had booked a motel for 13 days to be close to him. On the 8th day of my stay, I was informed that I had been overbooked for that day. The owner's solution was to move me to another Motel for one night and I was to return the next day. I was not happy with this as the issue was not my problem and despite the owner agreeing with me, she was beyond reasoning with me. So I demanded a refund and left. This meant looking for another Motel for the night. I found Hatea through Google, and what a great Motel it is. My room was beautiful, clean, spacious, and immaculate. The bed was divine, and even though I was exhausted, it was what I needed. The owners were very welcoming, especially Karen. I felt a sense of warmth and aroha from her. There is ample parking and it is close to amenities. I will stay again.

Everything about the property is great. Very centrally located. But more than that the hosts are absolutely amazing and kind. They will help you with everything you need. We were on our way from Auckland to Whangarei and had a flat tyre on a Saturday during the Xmas week, and as you know during this time of the year all repair shops are closed - this was about 4 pm on a Saturday. I tried my luck by calling Mike if he knew of any mechanics in Topuni where we were stuck. And with our luck, he asked us to reach out to a mechanic to help us. If not for Mike, we would have been stranded with no option to reach anywhere. We are immensely grateful to the hosts and always will be because it scary to even think what could have happened if they didn’t help us. Such kind and courteous hosts are not easy to find. Thank you always, always will be grateful.
