The size of the space

The hot tub was not clean. The movement above the space was loud. The bed was meh

The living space is as described. It was clean and comfortable. The sauna and laundry is definitely a plus. It is a very well equipped kitchenette. It has everything that a full kitchen has except an oven and full size fridge. We appreciated the coffee and creamer. The host was very responsive and helpful with a few questions we had.

The only thing misleading was the description of the lake views. From the yard and living space there really is no view of the lake. The property grounds are pleasant, but I was expecting a full on view of the lake. There was a balcony that came from the upstairs part of the house. I didn't ask if we could have gone up there but it seemed like it was part of the hosts area, and we couldn't see any inviting patio furniture to hang out on up there. We could see mt. Rainer from certain vantage points which was very pretty.

Villa Luna is in a beautiful location with peaceful surroundings. A great place to relax. The view and location was definitely the highlight of our stay.

1. Towels: Despite multiple washes, the towels had a persistent mildew smell and looked pretty worn out. For a property at this price point, fresh linens should be a given. 2. Entry issues: The key code entry system failed twice during our stay. Each time, the owner/manager had to enter through their part of the house to let us in. While they were responsive, it felt invasive having someone walk through the property. 3. Lack of invoice: We needed a receipt for military finance purposes, and unfortunately, we never received one. The owners insisted Booking.com would handle it, but Booking ultimately said the host refused to issue it. A simple memo or invoice, even handwritten, would’ve been enough. It caused a lot of unnecessary stress. 4. Pet area cleanliness: We brought our dog, and while we cleaned up after her every time, we arrived to find multiple piles of dog poop already in the backyard. The owners do have a dog and were out of town when we first arrived (their manager was on-site instead), so it seems cleanup was missed. If guests are expected to clean up after their pets, the same should be expected of the hosts. We could also hear their dog running around upstairs among other noise. 5. Jacuzzi: When we arrived, the kids were really excited to use the hot tub. But when we opened the cover, it had a greenish tint and visible hair floating in it, it just didn’t look clean. We didn’t bring it up to the owners, but we also didn’t let our kids use it the entire stay. It really should’ve been checked and cleaned before we arrived. 6. Dog hair on furniture: There was also some dog hair on the couch when we arrived that clearly wasn’t from our dog. Not a huge deal, but it added to the sense that things hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly before we got there. Bottom line, the scenery and location were excellent, but the service side needs improvement. For nearly $2,700 over 11 nights, basic comforts, cleanliness, and professional communication should be a given.
