"Disappointed"

Bathrooms were clean enough and beds made, pretty little garden against the one side of the house.

Sadly, we found our stay very disappointing. The house smelt muggy and unused on entry.To air the living space meant there was no privacy - large sliding doors which opened onto the communal parking area. There was stepped-on dog mess at the entrance and dirty dishes in the dishwasher. When the hostess came after we contacted her we were told rather bluntly that we had received an upgrade, and Booking.com was blamed because our booking had apparently gone missing. We were asked whether the dishes in the dishwasher bothered us. The space felt very cramped. It felt a bit like a second-hand furniture store with beds in awkward places.. We had to scrounge around for enough cutlery to use. In the morning, we realised that there was no gas, so cooking on the stove top was unsuccessful, and we had no clear access to the storeroom to exchange gas bottles. We had no time to interact with the hostess about this as it was an overnight stay between JHB and Cape Town.
