"Passable"

5.0

clean and comfy

Kitchen closed at 11 for the night so if you wanted a glass of water and you hadn't already bought one you had to walk to the center to buy... not the most pleasant thing.. especially if you think how easy would be for the staff to respond positevely to the petition to open the kitchen for like half a minute...

"Cosy and friendly hostel"

10.0

The Apapacho Hostel is a very friendly and cosy place where you can feel like home. The owner Tanya is a lovable person, in Dia de Los Muertos she showed us the local customs of Mexico, sharing her culture and magic of this day with guests. It's worth dropping in for the lovely atmosphere!

Unless you expect luxuries, everything you need is there :)

"Good location"

7.0

- good location, a few minutes walk to the city center and I walked back alone in the dark without any problems, there are some restaurants very close and you walk about two minutes to the artesan market - the host organized a very nice event to celebrate the day of the death, took us to the cemetery and to a nice location in town and offered make up, gave a lot of ideas for things to visit - the rooftop is really nice and has a beautiful view (I didn't manage to work from there though because the wifi signal is not that strong up there and I didn't find power outlets) - nice people and relaxed energy - check-out early in the morning without any problem

- beds were very uncomfortable, the bed springs hurt on my body - 100 pesos deposit just to get room keys - the host gave me a bigger room but made it clear that she didn't want to do it, as it was more expensive than what I paid, she only gave it to me because the guests in the room I booked wanted to stay longer then expexted; as this is not my fault, it is unprofessional to make me feel guilty for this - showering is very uncomfortable as it is really cold in the building and it is very difficult to find an acceptable temperature between the boiling hot and iced cold water; after some minutes, the hot water stopped working - the curtains didn't cover the entire window and were very transparent

"Wonderful staff, dreadful wifi."

7.0

Pros - the staff were super friendly and helpful. The bed was soooo comfortable with enough blankets and the kitchen was well equipped. The location was very central and the cat was also a bonus. This hostel is very cute. I would recommend this hostel for couples or families, not for solo travellers or digital nomads- especially if you don't speak Spanish.

This place is never warm, it is ALWAYS cold, but blankets are provided. I booked a private room to work, but the wifi is terrible if more than 2 or 3 people are using it. 2 families arrived when I stayed and everyone was using the wifi at the same time, this made it impossible for me to work so I checked out 4 days early. The kitchen is locked up at 10pm, but one night it was locked at 9.20pm which bothered me. The bathrooms run out of water often, so there is a huge bucket of water and a bowl that you use to 'flush' them. I wasn't fond of this either. I wouldn't recommend this hostel if you HAVE to work online during your stay, however, there are a few co working spaces in San Cris.
