"A wonderful views , graat staff and an amazing holiday location"

9.0

Fantastic views of the mountains and Camps bay . Spacious accommodation. Very hot weather at the time and the air conditioner in the bedroom was welcome . Both ladies who hosted us were very welcoming and very helpful , nothing was too much trouble

Steep drive , which was daunting but manageable. Bifold doors not working made the property extremely hot but these are due to be fixed

"Vacationing next to a construction site"

1.0

It does have a stunning view…

The landlord of the property next to this one was building a gym. It was impossible to sleep longer than 8am and the construction was ongoing on weekends incl Sundays. The owners made no effort to rectify this. It made our stay there a very poor experience.

"Bad Experience"

4.0

The property is located high up behind Bakoven and close to Camps Bay with wonderful views over the coast facing South West. The apartment has a large sitting room, good sized bedroom with en-suite and a large terrace with sea views. The sitting room had folding glass doors which open onto the terrace. Unfortunately the wooden frame in one of the key door panels was broken and the glass was falling out which meant that we couldn’t open or close the bifold doors without incurring further damage. We were unable to open up the room to the terrace and as the windows were exposed to the sun for most of the day, the room was like an oven, even with the curtains pulled. Not being able to use the doors meant that our five days at Auberge was far less enjoyable than it might have been. In addition, our stay was further spoiled by the lack of TV as it was also broken, which was somewhat annoying as I was hoping to watch some sport. I appreciate that items in rental properties do get broken but the Auberge is not a low cost rental and more effort should have been made to alleviate our inconvenience. We never received a proper apology. The owner did after some prompting offer a miserable ZAR 1000 rental reduction, equivalent to some 0.4% of the total, which I don‘t consider begins to compensate for the poor state of the property. On settlement, I was asked to pay in Euros which incurred extra exchange fees. All in all Auberge was not a happy experience and I would not recommend it.

"Absolutely not recommended!"

3.0

The ladies were very friendly and helpful. Our apartment was spacious—the largest of all—with a generous terrace and a stunning view. The view is a plus, though that’s quite common in Camps Bay.

Unfortunately, the maintenance of the apartment was disappointing. The wooden terrace and outdoor furniture were not clean and clearly in need of replacement. The sun loungers and garden furniture were so worn out that they were practically falling apart. The interior was very outdated and looked far less appealing in reality than in the photos. It’s definitely due for a major renovation and upgrade. The owner seems to prioritize high revenue over maintenance costs. Our rental car, an automatic, couldn’t make it up the extremely steep driveway. Even the staff tried and failed with our car. You always have to walk up the slope—over a 20% incline. A fun workout, but impractical for most people. The bathrobes and slippers in the room had clearly been used before. The slippers had visible dirty footprints. Breakfast was disappointing. You were forced to sit with other guests at a single table with eight chairs. Not really our thing, but okay. However, you had to pre-select your breakfast at check-in. We chose yogurt with fruit and muesli, which was then served in the morning—but it was underwhelming. For €250 per person per night, you’d expect much better, especially in Cape Town and the surrounding area. The high price likely reflects the large size of the apartment, as that was its only real advantage. Despite the friendly staff, do not book this place!
