"Family room is comfortable with old world charm. Pets will need to be room bound."

8.0

We stayed in the family room. The beds were comfortable and there is a little extra space in the rooms, with a small desk in each room. The family room shares a bathroom, that has a full-size bath and shower. The soaps and creams are in dispensing bottles, so no wastage. The breakfast is basic but satisfying. We were able to have our dog in the room and could take her on a walk on the property. The walk to the dam goes through the horse paddocks and around to the top field where there are a lot of bee hives. The rooms are neat, and cleaned daily, with old world charm. Each room has an outside sitting area which was great to use. Restaurant is well priced.

If you want to experience a real-life Basil Fawlty then you're in luck. ZhuZhu can sometimes be curt and short and appears to have little tolerance for guests on some mornings. As we arrived, she welcomed us with "they have a dog". We had informed them on booking.com and even confirmed that the place welcomed pets. Once we settled in, we took our dog for a walk, and their bigger dog, on meeting our dog, went for her. From then one we kept the dog in the room, and if we did meet their dogs, we shoed them away, and they listened. You are not allowed to bring your dog to breakfast, or the restaurant. So, the place is not exactly pet friendly more tolerant of you having a pet in your room. This is fine as long as you plan around it. We had Breakfast in shifts for example. Some mornings Zhu Zhu was as pleasant as Sibel other days her inner Basil Fawlty, meant dealing with her was not easy, with her implying your requirements were inconvenient. We even joked about this with a fellow visitor. The last day we stayed there the staff took our breakfast order and this seemed to work far better. All the other staff including Maragret were very friendly. One issue is the birds, the wake you up in the morning, and chatter all the time, which can be pleasant. You are not allowed near them though. There are also some strange instructions in the rules, like out of nowhere it says, "spiders make a web in 30 minutes and catch lots of mosquitoes" and "do not put cats in the microwave". This does make you ask what caused these notes.

"Old style hospitality in beautiful surroundings"

9.0

Old style cape Dutch home with a few rooms and restaurant alongside. Loved the horses, birds and dogs. Kids particularly enjoyed Einstein (the large St Bernard). A lovely meal at the restaurant and a pleasant terrace breakfast in the morning.

The birds do wake up early but are quite charming!

"Very expensive for the room facility."

4.0

Environment and view beautiful.

Floor in room very uneven and high risk for fall and slip. 1 bathroom including the toilet and shower for 6 people, is not by any way comfortable. Expected more.

"Not impressed and very noisy"

5.0

The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Loved the beautiful dogs roaming around and they were very friendly.

There are a lot of birds in cages around the property (which also makes the property look a bit scruffy) and the birds woke me up at 5:30 because they are very loud and close to my room. The handle in the shower with which you adjust the temperature kept falling off. The door of the room doesn't close very well and it was a very noisy windy night. The lady at the property also downgraded me to a smaller room (while I paid for a family unit with two separate rooms) - so this felt a bit unethical.

Close to everything. Friendly staff

Room was very tiny and not great value for money. Breakfast was served right next to bedroom. Don’t think guests were made aware that it was another room.

The noise - the birds in the cages right by the rooms are extremely noisy and it starts from very early in the morning. At night there are dogs barking - this accommodation is not for you if you need peace and tranquility. Also, the impression one gets is that the place is not really maintained - it looks like they are struggling financially.
