Rivertides Self Catering Guest House

We had such a lovely stay at the river-facing self-catering unit at Rivertides this past weekend. The unit was well-equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen – it really felt like a home away from home. The bathroom was spacious, with clean, fresh towels provided, and the beds were incredibly comfortable with warm, cozy linen – perfect for the cool evenings. One of the highlights for me was the peaceful view over the river. Watching the sunset while flocks of birds flew over the river was such a calming and beautiful experience. It really set the tone for a relaxing stay. Another special touch was the friendly host, who went the extra mile by preparing a file full of useful local information – including recommendations on where to eat, what to do in the area, and even a map showing the locations of nearby shops and restaurants. It made settling in so easy and really added to the overall experience. Another must do in the area is a river trip on Craclin' Rosie Sunday happened to be Earth Day, which made it even more special to be surrounded by nature. The gentle sound of the flowing water, the call of seagulls in the distance, and watching various birds come and go created a wonderful sense of connection with the natural world. Rivertides is a true gem for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. We left feeling refreshed and grateful – we’ll definitely be back!

The only small challenge we had was that our Hilux was a bit too big for the driveway leading to the secure parking area, so we had to park just outside on the pavement. That said, the area felt very safe, and it wasn’t really a problem for us. In fact, it worked out quite well as we had the freedom to come and go without worrying about being parked in.

Excellent location and most hospitable owner/manager. The flight of the Cormorants over the water, both evening and morning, was a sight to behold.
