Tony’s Guesthouse at Teluk Bahang

I call Tony’s Guesthouse "The Sanctuary" because that is exactly what it is. For me, living with autism, finding a place that is truly quiet is essential. Here, there is no noise or chaos; it is always peaceful, which allows my mind to completely rest. The atmosphere is simple, pure, and authentic. It's the perfect place if you value a conscious and calm lifestyle. A special highlight for me are the cats. They are so incredibly sweet and friendly, they really make the place feel like a home. Tony is a wonderful and respectful host. And Mina is a very kind helpful woman and great chef. If you are looking for a low-stimulus environment surrounded by nature, this is the best spot on Penang. It has been healing for both my mind and my body.

It is a nice set up that Tony has set up for his guests. We liked the communal area with kitchen and washing facilities as well as the general eating and chilling areas. We especially enjoyed the hammocks. The cats, the dogs and the birds also added to the homely feeling. It is so much better for us chilling outside in the garden as being caught up in a hotel room. The public bus system makes it easy to travel around exploring other areas and travelling to some really nice beaches. Tony was so kind to drop us off at the Tropical spice garden, a place that we loved. If you need transport to the Fruit Farm, speak to him as he will arrange with the owners to come and pick you up.

Our room had shared bathrooms (wet rooms) and no cupboards, but we knew that from the start as we opted for the cheaper rooms. For a longer stay we would go for an upgraded room.

Fantastic getaway for a slower pace. Made many friends here and felt just right at home. The cats were wonderful and they’re all well fed, well taken care of and well behaved. Highly recommended!
