The place offers a truly countryside experience in Hungary. The room is decorated like a village house, comfortable and with all modern anemities. Has a good location in the centre of Mad village. Good place for exploring Tokaji region. Beautiful courtyard with parking space. The Barta winery is next door so wine tastings can be arranged.

A tastefully furnished apartment, with all the cooking facilities that are really needed. Close to the renovated Synagogue. A good supermarket is some 300 m away, with everything required for a short stay. (Use Google Translate!) Wine lodges not only next door but all around, in an unspoiled village, a step back in time. The apartment is only some 80 m from the local "turn-around" bus stop ("Mád - forduló"), but be aware that this is a full mile from the train station, while another bus stop is on the main road some 900 m away. No taxi exists this side of Tokaj.... Our hosts were finally most helpful, in that the bus timetable changed at the close of the summer season (31/10/24), and only extensive enquiry finally proved that no bus would ever arrive to take us to the station: we appreciated being offered a lift on a Sunday morning.

If you are not driving but coming by train, be aware that the bus stop to Mád lies not outside Szerencs train station but some 700 m away (turn right out of the station and left at the junction, around the park, looking for a yellow bus stop. Visit the wonderful sweet and chocolate shop on the way! We missed an infrequent bus since nobody could tell us this.) There seem to be several bus routes, but only one arrives as described above.

Great hosts, great wine tasting, amazing atmosphere. Nice place for a weekend. The bike tour around the vineyards made an amazing impression on us. I recommend it to everyone
