I checked out the breakfast, there were plenty of choices, you could help yourself to fresh milk for your room. Microwave available if you wanted something warm, very clean kitchen.

"Value above the price point and alternatives close to ferry."

9.0

A very well maintained guest house, and very good value for the price, given location close to ferry port. Spotlessly clean. I had one of the small rooms, as clearly stated in the booking option, and it was fine for a travellers late arrival and early departure. Kettle etc and filtered water in the room. Light breakfast in the communal kitchen. The owner has a positive attitude and attends to guest needs. In my case covered, secure parking for my motorbike on a wet night.

"Woodland walks right by the sea, unspoilt beaches and the perfect place to recharge."

9.0

Our room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated with a good sized ensuite. Breakfast was just like we have at home and preparing it ourselves was nice - a familiar start to the day. The kitchen was well equipped and we made good use of it in the evening too (great if like me you have food intolerance). The house is a proper period piece with Victorian tiles and mer-dragons above the front door and we enjoyed hearing its back story from our lovely host Sue. Cranborne House is approached via a lane of charming cottages and is close to transport hubs - and frequent buses from the centre of Poole also gave us access to the stretch of coast to the west which is rich in rare and lovely habitats that make great walking. Just a short bus ride away we could get a boat to Brownsea island, an oasis of peace with wild swimming thrown in (and red squirrels if you're lucky). There's lots more to do and we're already planning our next trip...

About the room, the only small thing I'd change is that the duvets were a little heavy for August. Thin quilts with an extra layer would have ebeen perfect for both the cooler and warmer nights of our stay. This was my first trip to Poole since childhood (in the 60s) and I was sad to find that development makes it hard (from many parts of the town) to see what a phenomenal location this huge natural harbour is - though you forget that as soon as you're anywhere near the water). It's not a great town to explore on foot, but exceptional public transport means you can get to the good locations fast - and they are seriously good.

"Accommodating"

10.0

Fantastic experience all round. The host was very accommodating & gave me a brief run down of the area & any events happening during my stay which was a nice touch. Rooms very cosy, spacious & immaculately clean. Ample parking. Basic breakfast supplies provided though I never had any of this. If I recall, some fresh pastries provided during my stay which was also a nice touch. Overall fantastic experience from the property & the host. Thank you
