Perfect host in perfect location

Good value for money. Good location.

Location is good, quite and close to cafe, minimart and a night market. Host and the family were very nice. room is clean, mineral water replenishment every day.

Liked that it was walking distance to the beach and town centre

Ayu Guest House offers a peaceful and spacious stay in a strategic part of Sanur. It’s conveniently located within walking distance — about 600 meters — to Sindu Market, Icon Bali Mall, and the beach. The area is quiet at night, providing an ideal environment for restful sleep. The staff were warm and attentive, always ready to assist, including helping carry our luggage to the second floor. The room was impressively spacious, and guests have access to a shared kitchen on the upper floor — a practical bonus for longer stays. The price is reasonable given the location and in-room facilities, making it a good value for those who plan to spend most of their time exploring and need a quiet place to rest.

Cleanliness could be improved. We noticed several strands of hair on the floor when we entered the room. The glassware provided had stubborn stains, likely from tea or coffee, and would be more comfortable to use if replaced with cleaner alternatives. The scent of the wooden furniture, particularly the wardrobe, might be overwhelming for those with a sensitive sense of smell. On the second night, the toilet began to emit a strong urine odor despite appearing clean — the smell worsened after flushing and lingered until the next morning. The sliding glass door also requires care when opening, as it can slide too far and become difficult to lock. In addition, the tap water had a faint odor, which might be a general issue in the Denpasar area.

The setting is very nice, inside an old-style Indonesian house with lovely shrubbery and plants and quite a few birds flitting about. The room was comfortable, but more than that, it had a television (though I didn't use it) and a fridge. Plenty of cupboard space to hang and store clothes, and the shower was excellent with plenty of hot water if you wanted it. The room was cleaned daily. And for the price, it's outstanding.

It's a fair walk (11 minutes) to the main shops. That wasn't much of an issue to me as I like walking but for some that might be a problem.

Large room with everything you need for a great stay, comfortable bed, fridge, kettle, hot shower and a peaceful environment. Some great local restaurants around the Guesthouse and the icon mall and beach are only 10 minutes walk away
