Oceanfront Beach Resort

Het resort bevindt zich op een prachtige locatie. Met een scooter kun je zo overal naar toe rijden, de wegen op Siquijor zijn erg goed! De eigenaar en het personeel doen echt heel erg hun best. Het eten is erg lekker, maar houd rekening met een erg lange wachttijd, zoals op de meeste plekken binnen de Filipijnen :-) Onze dochters waren dol op de honden, zelfs in de regen konden ze met de honden spelen. Heerlijk wakker worden zonder hanen gekraai, maar met het geluid van de zee. Het is een stuk rustiger dan bijvoorbeeld San Juan, maar dat is natuurlijk waar je voor kiest als je hier boekt. Wij waren eerst 6 nachten in San Juan en deze 5 nachten waren een heerlijke rustige afwisseling en dicht in de buurt van bijvoorbeeld de ondergrondse rivier en een mooie waterval. De kamer was groot en de bedden goed!

Iets snellere tijden van de keuken :-) Een deken in plaats van een laken is fijn.

The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. When we arrived and saw the room we had booked, we asked if we could upgrade to a larger one, as we were expecting a tropical depression which would mean spending a great deal more time in the room. Fortunately, they could offer us a much better room, with a discount, which had all round views of the ocean. Breakfast was great with fruit, silog meals and coffee/tea included (bonus for homemade non-sweet bread!). The staff were very friendly and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant, but they weren’t responsible for the weather which put a dampener on everything. Big positive was that the owner had installed solar panels. Siquijor is notorious for power problems, so while lots of other hotels and hostels had no power and water for 2 days through the storm, we still at least had a little power to charge phones, and run lights at night.

If the weather had been good the location would have been ok, but it is kinda out of the way from everything with absolutely nothing else around it so you have to have transport. It is on the coast and has stairs to the ocean, but no beach and the stairs are a little awkward! There is nowhere other than your bed to sit that is comfortable or cushioned. There are only hard concrete benches outside or plastic chairs under a big canopy around tables which is where you eat. Again, not a problem if you’re out exploring the island during the day and only coming back to sleep. But if you’re stuck in the resort all day it’s pretty uncomfortable. The final negative is the bathroom. We give credit to the lack of power due to the storm and understand if there was power it might have had better water pressure, but the shower head is so blocked with sediment half of it doesn’t work, there was almost no water at all coming from the faucet, and they had rubber non-slip mats all over the bathroom floor that never dried, felt a little slimey and had black bits on that implied mould.

The staff was outstanding. The view of the beach was excellent.
