Location good. Didn't have breakfast.

Wash basin too small. Water spills over when tap is open. Only 1 x 500ml of drinking water for 2 persons. No water to make tea or coffee, in spite of kettle etc being provided.

It was the stop I needed driving from Kokstad to Cape Town. Starting from the friendly Receptionist to the beautiful room I was 100% happy wish i could have extended my days there 🤩

The room seemed clean and matched the pictures on booking.com

Our experience at Aloes 1st on Camp was overshadowed by unhelpful and unfriendly reception staff, which made the experience far from enjoyable. When we arrived at Celtis Country Lodge (where we had to check-in) we had difficulty accessing the property. The main gate, which is a remote-controlled gate was closed and after waiting for a while (with a number of staff walking past the gate) I entered through the side pedestrian gate. I walked into an empty reception area, and rang the bell several times without any response. After waiting for another while without success, I had to walk around to find someone who could help. Eventually, I was directed to a staff member who used a remote control to open the gate. While the lady who checked us in was friendly and efficient, the issues continued. After settling into our room, we decided to head back to the main lodge for a quick bite before unpacking. Once again, we found ourselves struggling to gain entry. A staff member walked right past us, saw our car, and made no effort to open the gate. When I entered through the pedestrian gate again and asked for assistance, I was met with a frown and the curt question, “Are you checking in?” There was no greeting, no friendly interaction, and no effort to make us feel welcome. While the room was simple but clean, we ultimately chose to forfeit the money we had paid, as the staff’s lackluster approach to their guests, was unpleasant and simply unacceptable. We understand that security and parking may be a concern, but a little friendliness and basic customer service would have gone a long way in improving our experience.
