The Old Orchard Guest House

Staff were very good and friendly.

Breakfast was not on time, and no options but a fried breakfast.

Went to The Old Orchard Guest House after a good memory from a number of years back. Not a good idea.

We came back to The Old Orchard Guest House with fond memories of a previous visit a number of years ago. But sadly, it seems to be a different place. The gardens in front of the reception, non-existent Swimming pool filthy (not usable) Safety railings along the road to the room missing. Solar geyser (first thing you see when you reach the room) in a state of disrepair. Room in a poor state of repair. Towels dirty Shower drain broken and grid missing, glass shower wall with broken seals hanging out, shower head too dirty to touch. One glass and one dirty chipped coffee mug in double room Bed linnen is very old and yellow - it seems clean but difficult to say. Curtain hooks in need of repair, causing curtains to appear shabby. Safety railing around deck over water almost non existing Reading light at bed not working Delapidated toilet seat hanging on for dear life. Golf putting green and driving range not in a usable state We planned to eat the advertised pizzas in the restaurant, but due to the state of the room, we would rather not take the chance. The SPUR in Koksted served a good meal.

Towels very old and torn. Offer dinner but only 30% of choices on menu available. During Load shedding even less. Swimming pool but not maintained. Closed for guests.

The place needs a bit of TLC and money spending on it. Kitchen only had a couple of different things on the menu and only 4 bottles of beer in the fridge. Needs investment from the owners before I would stay again

The setting was good. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with the limited resources available to them. Where they could the staff helped

No electricity for most of the stay. The staff battled with the generator, but no help was forthcoming from the management of the place. I understand that if the town electricity. The night was spent with no electricity.

The location was great and as advertised.

Restaurant closed without being informed with the facility being out of town. Not even a cold drink or water was available. No Toilet seat in our bathroom Swimming pool was not in a condition to use Staff were not interested in supporting

We didn't order Breakfast because of the bad experience we had with them when we booked in the afternoon before.

I don't know why Booking.com bothers to ask for a review if nothing gets done to have the property upgraded to match what they advertise. There are more negative reviews than positive, and I regret making the booking without reading the reviews. The place needs a lot of attention to detail and there is a lack of management. The receptionist wasn't friendly or helpful in any way. The rooms were not cleaned, chicken bones were lying on our bedside table, and glass pieces were scattered on the patio in front of our rooms. The bedding and towels weren't clean, so I had to ask them to replace our sheets and towels. Their towels look terrible, it's old and tattered. They never even bothered to let us know the restaurant was closed for the day, so we couldn't order dinner. The earth leakage for the lights and plugs tripped and the staff left the property by 16h00 with no one there to help us. Luckily some guy came later on and managed to switch it on, but the same thing happened the next morning. The other guests on the property didn't have water and their toilet had no seat, they were just as upset as we were. There was nothing we enjoyed during our stay, except the scenery. I surely hope Booking.com will investigate this Property because, for the price paid, we definitely did not get value for money. I can't see how they can keep this property on their list.
