Amu House

Amu house is situated in Amu which is the old town of Lamu. Two minutes to the pier, incredible restaurants, and other local shops. Amu House is breathtaking with its original architecture including ornate plaster carvings, carved wooden doors and furnishings, and open air courtyard. The rooftop is a beautiful and quiet oasis for sunbathing or stargazing. The shower was nice and hot, and the internet works well. Property staff were kind to provide 5L of fresh, filtered water on arrival with free refill in encouragement of reducing plastics. The breakfast was fresh and tasty with tons of different options. While the accommodation was spectacular, the highlight was partnering with Mohamed Aweso - the home’s primary tour guide. He accompanied us for experiences throughout the islands, negotiating fair prices on our behalf - sunset dhow, Flipi Flopi (awesome plastics recycling management tour), coral quarry, Takwa ruins, and architecture tour of Amu! We highly recommend dining at Sailors Joint (Amu) and Peponi Hotel (Shela) - these restaurants have the most delicious seafood we’ve ever tried!

Casa antigua muy bonita reformada y cuidada. Tiene una terraza en la azotea muy agradable. Todo limpio y personal súper amable. Desayuno bueno

Tenía ventilador pero no AC

They served delicious breakfast for a nominal fee. Could have a warm shower. Enjoyed talking with owner. Very close to all the Lamu action. Owner had connections with others who could help with boat transfers to airport, town tours, boat race viewing etc

Lots of stairs

Beautiful traditional guest house with all essential amenities, kept very clean and with wonderfully accommodating staff and owner, ready to go the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable. My family and I had a wonderful stay. The family room is fantastic, with a lovely indoor terrace to accommodate active children.
