The house was colder than expected, especially at night, and heating was not sufficient. Sound insulation is very poor, so noise from other rooms is easily heard. The futons were uncomfortable for a longer stay, and overall the experience did not meet expectations considering the price.

The place is great, very quiet area. Shower amenities were included. Easy access to the subway station and city bus A McDonald’s across the street and BeReal convenient stores on the main road as well as restaurants We didn’t use the kitchen but it was one the share spaces. I was under the impression it was single units but is more like sharing a big house and you have your own room.

I had trouble finding the place as I went by the help of navigation. I called the facility to get help. he was almost angry that I was not able to find the hotel. when I went there I happened to reach earlier than I notified. this time he was obviously angry that I didn't notify them about my early arrival. I simply said it's ok I can wait until the time I am supposed to check in. he let me check in earlier with an angry face. the toilets smelled urine and the bed made me itch. bed didn't smell like someone else used it but also didn't smell like it was washed.

It was ramshackle. The upstairs bathroom is like a box stuck out on the roof, with hole in the floor next to it. Most cupboards, sliding windows and otherwise useable spaces were closed off with sticky tape to prevent use. The Common kitchen was dark and uninviting. Location was out of the way on a highway - quite a long and circuitice walk from the train. . . I could go on. All of this might be ok if it was priced accordingly. We could only bare stay one night (of our planned 7), feeling like our holiday in Kyoto would be ruined if we stayed any longer. I sent an email to Koichi directly and via Booking. com to explain and asked for some refund but got no reply to any emails I sent. At least some of the photos used to show the Inn are disingenuous. . . we wonder where they might be depicting - not Calligraphy house. Booking there was a very costly mistake.
