Labib Guest House

The hospitality at this hotel was exceptional. Since the hotel is on an island, we informed them of our late arrival, and the owner personally picked us up from the ferry dock, even carrying our luggage. The room was clean and compact, with both air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The bathroom was also clean, and there was hot water. The hotel had a beautiful terrace where they prepared breakfast at our requested time. When we wanted to visit the Botanical Garden, the owner’s son took us there by boat for a reasonable hourly fee. After exploring, we decided to visit Nubian Village, and once again, the hotel’s boat transported us. The boat ride on the Nile was magical, especially when they turned off the motor so we could listen to the birds. When we wanted to visit Philae, they arranged everything seamlessly. Since we couldn’t cross the dam by boat, they dropped us off on the mainland, where their partnered taxi driver was waiting for us. He was incredibly kind and talkative. From there, we took a boat named "Büşra" (which happens to be my name!) to Philae. The boat owner had pre-purchased our tickets, allowing us easy entry. After our tour, the taxi driver picked us up again, and we asked for a restaurant recommendation. He suggested Mekka Restaurant, where we had an excellent meal. In the evening, we explored the market and called the hotel owner, who sent a boat to pick us up. Their assistance in making transportation so smooth was truly valuable. On our last day, they allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel while we explored the city. Before our flight, the owner’s son brought our luggage to the ferry dock, and their partnered taxi driver took us to the airport. He was so kind that he even shared his own food with us. The hotel’s architecture, interior design, and overall ambiance were beautiful. They even made a special tea for us.

The only downside was that our room didn’t have a proper window. There was a small one, but it opened into the corridor where the room doors were located. This meant that no fresh air could enter, which was a shame because the island had such a lovely breeze. Also, when we opened the window, we could hear everything from the corridor, and anyone outside could hear us as well, so we had to be mindful of noise.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was beautifully decorated and the view from the terrace was beautiful and peaceful. It's just a few mins walk to the ferry pier. The owner even picked us up and drop us off at the ferry terminal with his motor boat which was very kind.

We loved everything about our stay here. It was clean and comfortable. And the host was super helpful. It was an amazing experience to use the boat to reach our hotel in the midde of the Nile. It takes only a few minutes and it’s totally worth it.

Set in a Nubian village overlooking the Nile, the Labib Guest House provides warm, welcoming accomodations. While the facilities are basic -- 2 very cozy twin beds & a bedside table in the room, & a small bathroom with a tiny sink & a shower (no shower stall) -- it's clear that care has been taken to make them attractive and comfortable. Breakfast (egg, bread, jam, white cheese, tomatoes & cucumbers) is served on the roof, with a gorgeous Nile view facing the Agha Khan mausoleum. There are nearby guest houses with (also basic) restaurant facilities. The guest house had a boat pick us up and bring us to the launch site near the hotel when we first arrived and took us back to Aswan when we were ready to leave. Otherwise we took the (egp 10 per person) ferry on the other side of Elephantine Island -- a 10-minute walk along dirt paths between farmed fields and village houses. Everyone was kind, friendly, & helpful, and most people seemed to speak good English. The guest house is located near the pharaonic ruins on the southern end of the island, and there are lots of interesting spots to investigate on foot. We rented kayaks at the Nile View guest house and restaurant nearby and had a great time enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the Nile, and we took a couple bird-watching boat trips with a knowledgeable guide we met on the Corniche. It was a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning.

It would be wise to research restaurant options in advance. We ate lunch on the mainland and snacked on the guest house rooftop in the evenings because of limited restaurant options and our reluctance to walk the unlit dirt paths at night, risking getting lost. No doubt, had we done so, someone would readily have helped us; everyone seemed to know everyone else on the island. We wouldn't recommend anyone with mobility issues staying in this area as climbing in and out of boats and up fairly steep dirt inclines can be challenging.

Recommended for sure . Labis family are very nice people an willing to help with anything. The Island is so beautiful and quiet.

Unlike our experience in Cairo, where we often felt like tourists were taken advantage of, Mr. Hamada arranged our tours with complete transparency, ensuring we saw exactly what we wanted at very fair prices. His deep knowledge of the area made our excursions even more special. The guest house itself is perfectly located, offering breathtaking rooftop views of the Nile and the desert - a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring. Every evening, we had heartfelt conversations with Mr. Hamada, making us feel like we were staying with family rather than just in a guest house. Even the taxi drivers he arranged were friendly and trustworthy. Aswan is already a stunning destination, but staying at Labib Guest House made it unforgettable. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll be genuinely cared for, enjoy delicious food, and experience Egypt through the eyes of kind and honest locals, this is the place to be. We wish we could have stayed longer, and we will definitely be back. Don’t hesitate - book this place, arrange your tours with them and make your trip to Aswan truly special!

The location is amazing !! Hamada and his family and literally the entire neighbourhood is so kind and warm. You will feel like home. And Hamada’s wife is an amazing cook. Super recommended!! ❤️❤️❤️

Amazing feeling about the place. Spotlessly clean and a beautiful guest house to be in. Excellent location and really lovely hosts. Amazing view from the rooftop and very tranquil. Tasty and fresh breakfast!

The family that owns the house is very helpful, kind and cheerful. Om Labib (Eman) is an excellent cook and Abo Labib (Hamada) is an excellent host. I definitely recommend their house😊. Hope to go there again very soon.(P.S. best lemon mint juice).
