Hunters Guest House

My original trip had to be cancelled due to ferry disruption and the host Mitch offered to transfer my payment towards a further date even though the cancellation was last minute which he very kindly did. The hotel was right on the seafront close to the ferry terminal and had facilities for storing cycles. Rooms were spacious and the decor was welcoming.

Breakfast was excellent

The place was clean and the staff were friendly. Had a fryup for breakfast which set me up for the day. Don't usually eat fried food but really enjoyed it.

The room when we got in it was on the ground floor as I’d asked for due to my mobility problems which was appreciated.

The host was not there when we arrived so we were kept waiting till he arrived looking very stressed and harassed. About 15-20 mins.Someone was in our ground floor room which he acknowledged was allocated to us, but he promptly asked them to move to a spare caravan he had, which took another 10 mins( luckily they were in). They kindly agreed to move out which made us feel terrible. The host left with them and we never saw him again. It was all very strange and unwelcoming despite him rearranging guests to accommodate us!!! We thought £120 for one night with no breakfast was expensive.

The noisy water heater until late at night, the smell of cooking all day, barking dogs in adjacent gardens, faulty door lock, faulty plumbing.

No face to face with owner or staff. Room not cleaned on one day. Had to specific request for towels to be changed, this through the Cafe not part of Guest house.

Clean, great location, the staff were lovely

Shower was squeaking and went hot /cold. Duvet /covers felt very cheap, quite a small room.

The breakfast was great and served by a lovely and very attentive couple. The guesthouse itself is located nicely along the shore in the middle of different local shops. The owner was accommodating and easy to reach through texts.

The room could use some love and maintenance. While it was overall clean, the toilet seat was wobbly. Some of the walls had small stains on them and the shower in the ensuite bathroom made a very loud shrill shrieking sound whenever it was turned on, resulting in rather brief and not very relaxing showers. The room was also very small. All in all, it was a nice place but a bit on the pricier side for its current state.

Breakfast was excellent and had a good choice. Sets you up for the day!
