Guest House Sun Island

I really liked this stay, but if I had to pick my favorite things they would be: a) the fantastic scenery all around- it’s out of the way but worth it b) the home cooked meals were so good and filling and healthy - it was so great to have some homemade food while on a trip c) the owner was very kind and welcoming without being intrusive

Although it wasn’t a problem for us, if you’re a light sleeper, this may not be the best fit for you, as you can hear very easily the noise outside the room.

It is close to the starting point of tateyama alpine crossing but you need to organize pick up and drop off with the owner

It is a bit of rural feeling which might not be bad thing if you want to experience this side of Japan

This place is e homey accomodations and destination.

The whole family running the place were very cute. Lot of authentic details in the property makes you wonder about its history and the life that the owners are living. Great dinner and breakfast made and served by the owner at a common dining table.

Nothing was below expectations.

Friendly, laid-back hosts. Area is pleasant. More neighborhood options for food and activities than might first appear (eg, excellent onsen at hotel down the street).

Property is a long way from transport, but at least there is a (paid) transfer service to/from the station. Room was a little crowded for 3 tatami beds.
