The host was wonderful - nothing was too much trouble and he was so helpful. Beautiful little town and great location right in the heart of it.

Nothing to do with the accommodation, but the bells and square are a bit noisy at night so just something to be aware of.

Why does the town need the clock bell to chime every 15 minutes 24/7?

A bit noisy outside (at least on Saturday), staff of local cafeteria talking loud till late and start again at 7am. Churches Bells rings all night long every 30 minutes or so. It is so ridiculous that's becomes funny at some point. Anyway, good experience of how things are happening in Italy. :) I would suggest to take earplugs with you.

Wonderful location on a piazza. Limited car traffic, so it's relatively quiet. Free parking is an about four minutes away.

Michele and his wife could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our time in Maratea giving us great advice on restaurants and what to see and do as well as being onhand almost constantly. The room overlooked the village square and breakfast was a choice at one of two very nearby cafes. Extremely clean room and comfortable bed.

If arriving by train, pre book an arrival taxi as it is a 200 metre steep uphill 2 km climb on footpaths with steps and cobbles. The local bus runs approx 5 times a day so times may not suit the train.

Nothing

The location could not be more central than La Stanza dell'Angolo's was. Our balcony was looking over a nice, central square. Clean, functional room, warm personal service. Our host even walked ahead to point where we could comfortably park our car. Overall, we were mesmerized by peaceful, off-season Maratea and its surrounding mountains -- and its shy but friendly inhabitants.

The only little minus was the breakfast, consisting just of coffee/ tea and cornetti (or other sweets). However, the small coffee bar that served the breakfast was endearing and a little window into local life.
