Dormio Manor Guest Lodge

Very clean and comfortable facilities. The caretaker is extremely kind and sweet and makes the best breakfast! It's quiet, peaceful and the swimming pool is a great extra to have.

The property has a good location. I did not want to write this review because I know how bad reviews reflect on an establishment, but when I got a bill of R500 and got accused of smoking in the rooms which we DID NOT do I thought it only fair that guests should know about the issues I had with my stay. It really angers me having to pay for something with my hard earned money that I did not do!

I got a room that was right at the front door and guest toilet, away from all the other rooms, so I had to lie awake at night and listen to the front door being slammed open and shut the whole night and the toilet being used by other guests. The room was right on a busy road so the cars speeding past at all hours of the night was disturbing. There was no block out curtains so the streetlights and security lights shone through my window. This was all tolerable to a degree, but when I got up to switch off the bright tv light that was bothering me, I switched on the lights and there were cockroaches scrambling everywhere. I managed to kill two but the rest scrambled into the back of the microwave and behind the fridge. Needless to say I stayed up the whole night. There is also a door in the bathroom that goes into another room, the door was locked but there was no key on my side which really made me feel unsafe, you could also see into the other room through the keyhole, this upset me because that meant whoever was on the other side of the door could see into my bathroom. The walls were dirty and the bedding had stains. I reported the cockroach issue to reception the next morning and she had the nerve to say to me she is sorry but she does not know what guests bring with them into the rooms! I asked to be moved to another room for the second night. The next morning my daughter found a cockroach in her room on her bed as well, so obviously there is a serious cockroach problem. We were not offered breakfast option when we checked in, and i could see the receptionist was very glad to see us leave. Then to top it all of, I get a payment request of R500 two days later because according to them we smoked in the rooms!!!. Now, I am the owner of my own guesthouse so that is one thing i would never do at any establishment!!!!. We smoked on the patio outside the room, we even took our own ashtray with. Oh and the rats running around in the courtyard not nice!
