It’s a cozy home stay situated in the beach area. There’s a lovely balcony and you can be part of Alapusza’s daily life by observing the street near by. Unexpectedly there haven’t been many mosquitoes. Jibu is a great host who really takes care of his guests. He is always available on the phone and can organise a large variety of water activities such as canoeing and kayaking. We can really recommend it as it’s eco friendly and aloes you to discover even the smaller parts of the backwaters. Alapusza is a nice water based town with traditional neighbourhoods and upcoming young businesses (80s vintage clothing) and small little modern espresso bars and restaurants. It’s worth it! Enjoy!

Jibu made my experience here super special! He welcomed me as a friend and went above and beyond to show me the area and he’s incredibly hospitable and fun to hang out with. He even picked me up from the homestay in Marari where I was staying before. He can organise activities in the area and give helpful recommendations. The room is good value for money and it’s walking distance from the beach. Thank you!!

Spacious

The floor of the room was kind of dirty. And the owner’s reaction is “it came from your shoe” while we didn’t even wear our shoes into the room. The owner kept mansplaining make every conversation very tiresome. Lots of mosquitoes in the night in the room. And the property provides no warning or anything to help.

The place is very clean, bed is comfortable, location good, room very spacious, anf the owner is so nice and very attentive and helpful. .

However, there are mosquitoes, no screens on the windows, the AC doesnt work and the fan isn't strong enough to keep the bugs off in the night. i had to hang my personal mosquito net at 4am after battling them all night, which is no fun. Screening the windows, offering a mosquito net, or fixing the AC would solve this.

The owner Jibu is very helpful, both before, during and after our trip. He’s very knowledgable about Alleppey, gave us a great restaurant recommendation and helped us with navigating public transport. You can also do a great canoe tour of the backwaters. It was great to have him at the end of a Whatsapp message.

Our constructive criticism would be that we’ve stayed in higher standards of property for the price in India. The only bedding provided other than the base sheet was a thin sarong that didn’t cover two people. The towels, although lovely and colourful, didn’t actually dry you. We booked the non AC room and the fan was good, but the room was still so hot. It would have been great if there were mosquito nets on the windows so we could have opened them at night. I’d recommend booking the AC room if you’re visiting during hot weather. And finally - the foot mat didn’t seem to have been changed between guests as it was super sandy, not what you want when stepping out of a clean shower!

The owner was very helpful: He took the time to show me the suroundings of the city. He arranged me tuk tuk!
