The Palms Beach Hotel and Restaurant

Very tiny rooms. Flying insect infestation. Noise outside the hotel.

location was ok - at the lake

we had reserved a double room. but we’re given a very small single in the back. one pillow, an additional one was not available. room was not very clean.

The breakfast (across the road, from 9am - 11am) was good and the WiFi was fast. The young man at reception who tried his best to get our TV working. The lady who served us breakfast was also very kind and gave us advice about staying safe when walking to Botanical Gardens.

The hotel claims to provide a free shuttle to/from the airport but this is borderline false advertising. In truth, you cannot rely on them! Shortly after booking we were contacted by the hotel asking what time shuttle we needed, as it was free. We said we would like a shuttle at 9pm on the day of our checking out, because our flight was leaving in the very early hours of the following day (as is common at Entebbe). They wrote back agreeing to this, saying "the shuttle will be available in time to drop you at the airport". Sounds great, right? But fast forward three weeks to the day of our check out and the staff said they were not aware of any shuttle coming to pick us up. They said it was only available during working hours (no mention of this previously), and that we would have to pay for a taxi instead. When I showed them the message they had sent agreeing to a shuttle at 9pm, things got unpleasant. At first the manager claimed that they thought we were staying the night of the flight (even though this was clearly never in the plan - checkout was always going to be on 19th). He then started to change his story and claimed that we should have purchased a late check-out in order to be eligible for a 9pm shuttle (absolutely no mention of this beforehand). The mental acrobatics they went through to try to justify not standing by their commitment were something to behold. In the end, the hotel refused to keep its word and we had to arrange our own private taxi to the airport at our own cost. The money wasn't the problem - it was the lack of honesty that disappointed us :( Minor issues: TV not working in the room No hot water in the shower

Money was stolen from my handbag . That’s not a good reputation at all for a hotel.

Look after customer’s belongings well especially if valuables are left locked in the room. The key was left at reception. How did the foreign currency disappear???

Small hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. Room was cleaned every day. Location is good, close to a few local restaurants and right opposite from Lake Victoria. Communication before, during and after our booking was quick and easy. The restaurant by the lake is a great place for having breakfast (we recommend the avocado toast) and watching birds at the same time!

Victoria Mall is within walking distance however we found the road towards the mall to be very unsafe. We had an unpleasant experience on this road and would like to advise other travelers to move around Entebbe by car ( or go with a trustworthy taxi driver). The hotel staff and management were extremely empathetic and helped us out a lot after our experience. We are very thankful towards them and would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location was across the street from Lake Victoria. Breakfast at the restaurant next to the lake was good.

The mosquito nets were hung by a very unstable rod and I knocked it down more than once. Also, my friends had booked the only room with two beds and they gave it away to a long term couple staying there and offered no other options than to reduce the single room rate when they should have provided the two rooms at the same rate. The ground floor room they offered smelled of mold unfortunately.
